Babies dont need cows milk after weaning. Afterall..he's not a calf! LOL. But if you must do it, you can start at about a year old. His tummy can't handle it now. Be good to the child and buy organic milk and not the stuff loaded with hormones and chemicals.

OJ is too acidic. If you want to give him juice, water down white grape juice or apple juice. Again, I suggest organic. Farmers use way too many pesticides on fruit!

Its best to wait until 6 mo before giving regular cows milk. However you can give him goat milk. Its great, vits, minerals and all that. They used to use that in the old days when the mother didn't produce milk instead of hiring a wet nurse. As for regular oj I'd stick to the store bought baby juices. I'm grown and oj still gives me haertburn from &^^$%!!!

For the milk, i would give like 4 ounces of milk with about 2 ounces of water. See how your child responds to it. It all depends on the child. Maybe you can ask your dr. But, i wouldn't do the orange juice until 1 year because it could be very acidic for the stomach of a little one..

While technically, yes you do need to wait until they are alteast a year, I have used cows milk in a pinch. It is a little more difficult to process as well as oj, but if you get down to the bottom of the formula can or dad is out with baby and runs out of breast milk, a little cows milk isnt going to scar them for life.

You must wait till he is at least 1 year old before giving him regular milk, and when you do, make sure it is whole Vitamin D milk till he is 2. It has been medically proven that baby formula is the second best thing for a babies devolping system. The only thing that is better than formula is, of course, your breast milk.
I know formula is expensive, so if that is why you are wanting to make the switch, remember, your childs health is worth the extra money, and if you quailify, you can recieve WIC (Women, Infants and Children) and they will provide you with most of the formula that you will need.

I was told by my son's Doctor not to give cows milk or orange juice until they are 1 years old. It isn't good for their bodies.
Ask your baby's Doctor they will give you the facts and everything, and they only like them to have whole milk when they are on cows milk, but for now keep your baby on formula or the breastmilk.
Don't push to soon, you don't want to hurt the baby's tummy or body. Time will fly by.
Good luck

Ask the pediatrician. Do whatever he/she says is best for your baby's system. You could probably do the juice thing as long as you dilute it 1/2 and 1/2 with water. I was able to give my daughter dil. juice at 6 mos. Cow milk just doesn't break down in their system at that age. Only breast milk and formula for now...

Yes, you should wait until your baby is at least a year old before introducing cows milk. Their stomachs have trouble digesting the large proteins it contains. Giving cows milk too early can result in bleeding in the digestive tract, which may not be noticable in the stool. It can also cause allergies or intolerances to dairy later in life. Please give your baby formula or breastmilk the first year.

Our pediatrician told us to wait until our son is one as well

This is from the website http://www.nncc.org/Nutrition/feed.baby.html.

One reason many physicians and parents give for feeding lowfat milk to infants is to protect them from the problems of overweight. There is no convincing evidence that overweight babies become overweight adults. Remember, babies under the age of 12 months should not even be drinking
cow's milk.

Babies need whole milk. Lowfat milk does not have enough calories to permit babies to grow and develop to their best potential. Also, skim milk contains proportions of minerals and protein that will put extra strain on the baby's kidneys. This also means that the baby may be at risk of
dehydration. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends whole milk until the age of 2.
