when starting on cereal you should have made it to a watery consistencey that way your baby experiences texture without the confusion of how to eat. As he slowly grasps the concept of the spoon rather than the bottle, you increase the thickness. When you start with the jars of baby food start with bananas then try a veggie. Alternate fruits and veggies, BUT make sure you are allowing him time to get use to each one before switching to another. (This is just incase he has food allergies.) Do NOT start meat or the advanced stages of baby food until later (much later) let him get use to the simple stuff first.

Most people will say that veggies should be 1st so that the child isn't spoiled by eating fruits 1st,i have six children and often times added a bit of fruit to their cereal just to encourage them to eat new things, and never had a problem. The majority of people im guessing are likely gonna say cereal, fruits, veggies, then meats. The one sure thing is that u know your baby best and only u will know what your baby wants and needs when the time comes. As long as your baby is gaining weight well and seems content, there is no harm in waiting till 6 months. :)

Go with the veggies and fruit purees. Both are fine. Wait a while before introducing meats.

Our pediatrician suggests introducing only 1 type of food at a time and waiting a few days after to see if there is an allergic reaction before starting him on the next type of food.

aaaahhhhhh!!!! you are feeding your baby foods like this at four months old?!?!?!?!!!! Please do some research before hand! Babies only have one enzyme to break down food bfore their first teeth come in- their little systems are not ready for these foods and you can be opening the doors to a lot of food allergies and digestive troubles in the future. Trust me- I am dealing with it with my oldest child and seeing it all around me. Babies should not be given ANY solid foods until they are a year old or at least until they get their first teeth. If you feel you absolutely have to give them something between 6 and 8 months find foos that have natural enzymes in them such as mashed egg yolk (not the whites) or mashed avacados- things with fatty acids that are good for the brain and enzymes that will help their systems break it down and be able to absorb the nutrients! When you do start feeding them fruits and veggies- do one food at a time so that their bodies can get accustomed to it and you can see right off the bat if they have any allergies and you will have no trouble knowing what to avoid- introduce one or two new things (seperately ) a week.

its good if you try both veggies and fruits. what i did with my son when he was 4 months was i gave him his veggies first then the fruits.
i remember one time i tried to do fruits first then veggies. it didn't work. he wanted to keep eating the fruits but that was because he wanted to eat more sweet. so its better veggie first.
and about the meat, i would wait a little longer, till the baby is about 6 months or so, cause your baby is just trying out solids, so you want to take it easy, and you also want to teach your baby how to chew, so just take it one step at a time.

you can try a little of both. as for the meats they say it's best to wait until around 6mths of age. for the first fruits and veggies try applesauce, bananas and whichever veggie you prefer to start with.

My son spit up really bad (and still does) so we added cereal to his formula. I believe you start veggies, then fruit, then meat. (you start meat when they start the phase 2 baby food)

after rice cereal, you should go through the rest of the cereal line - oatmeal, barley, etc...then go to veggies and then fruits.
