Ok, here is a question for parents from a 5th grade teacher who is also a mother of a 1st grade student. I used to complain and complain about parents that did not make their child complete homework, but boy have things changed. Ever since my son started 1st grade, homework is a never ending battle. I know I am a teacher, but that does not make me a miracle worker when reasoning with a 6 yr old. I happen to hate homework, and I hate correcting it since I am not allowed to record a grade. Reasoning behind no grade is a school rule that says we don't know if the kids actually completed the work, and honestly parents tend to complete projects and such just to get them done. Most of the time I am begging students to even turn it in. What is a parents take on this. Would you be upset if our 5th grader did not get homework? Not that it matters, becasue I have to send it, but I wanted to hear the opionion of other moms out there.

Everyday the student smells very strongly of urine. I'm worried the other kids will start to notice. Should I say something to her or just keep quiet.

Maybe if the other kids do start to tease her, the problem will fix itself?

My son is turning 8, on November 1st. Since it's the day after Halloween I don't want to give a bag of candy as party bags. Any creative ideas for things to give out?

Hi there,
We're having a big family Christmas, and it's my little cousin's birthday Christmas Eve.
I want to make sure her day is special, so does any one have any ideas for a special gift, or just general things that are 'in style' right now for 14yr girl? [13 turning 14].
She's girly, but very sporty. Has a lot of brothers, so kind of craves 'girl time'.

We're planning a 'girls day out' on her birthday to go shopping and out for 'tea' [with gma, aunt, cousin, mom, etc]. We won't be anywhere near her hometown to invite her friends.
I know she's excited... but do you have any additional ideas/tips for me?

Thanks in advance!

Some-thing clever to make him think and leave you alone - preferably without swearing!

My 10 year old brother is being bullied and I don't know what to tell him of which he can say to get the bullies to leave him alone.

Thankyou for any suggestions - they will be very much appreciated!

She came home at 2:45.I drop her off & Pick her up at school.Well,I also have 3 other kids that attend the school.I asked her:Adrianna,Whats Wrong?.She said ''My teacher gave me detention''.For What i said?.She said:Because we are doing exponets in school and i forgot to put a X next to the numbers,And She said That i have Lunch Detention and have to do it all over again,And it was 160 Problems. This was Friday's homework. She is excellent at math,Her average is a 90,And the Teacher Dropped it Down to a 50.I consulted her teacher and she wasn't there,So i left her a message. She did her homework in an Hour,So she can Enjoy The Weekend.Should i do more than Just Talk to the Teacher?.She didn't go to Detention because she Felt She Didn't Deserve it.I don't think she did either.I work in that school (E.L.A teacher 10:00-2:45).So i will talk to the teacher tommorow. She is 89 Years old.Her name is Ms.Mufatata

How do you tame a temper while shopping? The kind where the kid throws themself on the middle of the floor in a flow blown fit while you are shopping? This happened with my 5 year old recently and I picked her up and walked out of the store, she screamed the whole time. I never spanked her or yelled just picked her up and left with nothing. It was all over the fact that we couldn't agree on what she should get, she wanted to spend more money than I had. So to every parent out there who has gone through with this what was the solution? Thanks for your help!

I know its not appropriate but the fact is these kids are growing up fast. My son told a girl he thought she was "hot" and he liked her (apparently all the boys do).

My son has braces because of an overbite and glasses. My son said she responded by acting like she was going to vomit, flipped him off and said he was a dork because he has buck teeth and can't close his mouth. He was real hurt by this.

I told him he doesn't want friends with such a bad attitude. I try to tell him he won't always have braces and/or glasses.

my daughter has become quit the little spiritual person in our home, i am proud of her for this but i have seen some changes in her maturity because of it. not that its a bad thing but she isnt interested in the normal kiddie stuff any more. she isnt really excited over halloween and she hasnt even mentioned gifts for christmas. this time last year she would have been jumping out of her skin every morning to get ready to trick or treat. so now i dont know what to get her for christmas, she isnt interested in a lot of the toys on the market and i'm sure opening a box of clothes wont excite her SO do you have any suggestions?

my 8 year old son always says his dad is mean; when he was with him over the summer he said he got kicked in the ribs. Last night he came home with three bruises on his legs saying his dad pinched him for being mean to his sister. Should this be reported?? I think his dad is way out of control and needs some anger management.

She met a boy when we went on vacation and swapped numbers. Ever since then, 'the boy' came around a few times, but today my daughter asked me if she could have sex with him. I'm very worried. Should i stop her seeing him?

Well I'm a leader for campers in a Girl Scout troop (Juniors- third grade to 5th grade) I'm going to be a captain of them. We have to come up with a song or skit at the end of the day. We have to dress up as pirates too. Any good ideas? How should I act around this age group?

He loves all the horrid science and horrid history and has gone through some roald dahl and all horrid henry. i need something that will push his reading a bit but also hold his attention past the first page.

It is becoming SO annoying that I have to stop what I am doing to go bathe my sister when my parents can do it. Isn't she old enough? I'm very sick of it! I have been doing it for years, and it is interfering with other things like school or friends.
