I agree with the general consensus, he is a great dane.
Mind you, there is a conspiracy theory that he is genetically engineered super dog, from China, family name of Doo (explains scrappy & Scooby dum)
There are gaming stat's for him& his relatives in a Role playing game (call of cathulu)
He is breed to fight monsters and the supernatural.
(Don't you think some people have too much time to think about nonsical crap??)
