A lot of people might say an iPod, but I would wait off on that until she is 14. Not all of us teenagers get engulfed into that nebula of limitless songs being channeled into our ears, but your kid might and you don't want her to have one until she is older and busier so the iPod is just for entertainment, and doesn't become her life.
Clothes, maybe. But 11 is still kind of young for that. Why don't you ask her if she has any ideas, cause no one here can read your girl's mind, so you defiantly want her input on this. If she has a sibling or close friend, you can have them find out what she might like and report back to you.
Girls seem to want to always be the center of attention, so defiantly something that gives her that amongst her gal pals. Take note of the female opinion on this, if I was turning 11 I'd want a 50 cc dirt bike with the gear, but I doubt a girl wants that.

One thing my daughter received alot of for her tenth birthday was gift cards. Sounds kind of lame, but she had the best time spending the day just her and I shopping in her favorite stores for anything she wanted. Even Wal-mart or Target are great because they have a million options.
Some more specific options-
Science?-telescope,microscope, chemistry set[they don't have to be expensive, check out National Georaphic
books
jewelry
clothes
camera is great if interested in photography
games-foosball,soccer tables, mini pool tables, air/glide hockey tables are populare for boys and girls of this age-especially for having friends over
craft kits from Hobby Lobby are a big hit-they have everything you can imagine.
Hope any of this is helpful!

Depends on what shes into; here are some ideas: movies, new backpack/bag, hair accessories, new sports equipment, iPod, gift cards, A pet, if she has a cell phone you can pay her bill for a year (if you dont already pay it), a vacation, money, books, crafts, radio, CD's, take her to a concert or play, take her shopping and buy her anything she wants, take her to watch her favorite sport played professionally, school supplies, or you can plan her a surprise birthday party, or you can take her close friends and go to lake compound/six flags (or any nearby theme park) and spend the day there! Hope I could help you out some!

I have a 12 yr old daughter. She's very (and I emphasize very) good at making lists of things she wants as she's already handed out her Christmas list last week. Anyways, I would say that asking her for a list of things is the absolute best thing to do. You wouldn't want to get something she's not really in to. For example, I wouldn't dream of getting my daughter makeup or anything girlie. She's a bigtime tomboy and hates the color pink for goodness sake. She and her friends are really in to reading and writing mangas (Japanese comics) and drawing anime (Japanese style drawings). Have her make a list and you can't go wrong.

It depends on what she likes. When I was that age, I liked getting make-up and nail polish, things like that made me feel more grown up. If not, get her a few clothes from her favorite store (or if she's picky, a gift certificate). Whatever you chose, make sure it is something she can show off to all her friends, because that always makes a girl happy:)

oooh for my birthday my parents let me get my ears pierced when I was 11. I still remember that, it was SO exciting.
But besides what I got, I really don't know... I having been 11 in 7 years and I just don't remember what it was like. I think at that age I wore light make up.... but that's all I remember, lol.

Everyone else stole my answers. When all else fails get something to go with something she already got. (Generic example: DVD Player to go with her tv etc...) That usually works out better than you think and those types of things get the most use. Good luck.
