I want to get my friend's son a nice sleeping bag as he joined the scouts and I am assuming at some point they will go camping. He is 6. I thought about one of those character ones, but as we all know things like that are not made to last and fads change with flip of the TV channel when you are young. Would it be better to get him one with a warranty that is manly looking so he can use it long-term or go for the character of the moment? Also, for those of you with suggestions, add links to sites with the bags you suggest. Thanks for your help!

My daughter, 3rd grader, wants to be in the schools talent show. She was talking to her art teach, who is a male, about it. He offered to be in the talent show WITH her and gave her his home phone number so that they could "practice" together. I am freaking out. I don't believe ANY teacher should give out their home phone # and why wouldn't he just suggest that I bring her back to the school so they could "practice" together. I am going to call him, because my daughter is very excited, and agree that I will go WITH her and sit WITH her while they practice. What would you do in this situation?

I have a Ten year old daughter who just started 5th grade. It has been a big change for her. Lots of homework every night. I've noticed that she has become easily emotional and starting to spend lots of time in her room playing quietly and enjoying her private time. But are they normally very emotional at this age?

OK, I have a 7year old son who was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome last year and we are having some issues that I’m not sure how to handle. Around the end of August he started to freak out if I got out of the car to pump gas or leave the house to go next door and then it progressed into him freaking out if I left the house (unless it was for me to go to work) and then it progressed to school and recently he started when I leave even to go to work. I know that it's somewhat normal in younger children but I am stressed out. I have to literally drag him out of the car and into his classroom and sneak out of the house if I have to go to work.
I don't think it's an issue with bullying at school otherwise I think it would just be a "school thing" and the rest of the time would be OK. His doctor has been no help and we're working with the school and a psychologist with him but nothing is getting any better. Anyone have any advice? Suggestions? Information?

my son is four and is being bullied and targeted by the school and the school bus drivers.because i chose to stay home with my son and raise him instead of working he is also an only child. he has never until starting school this year ever been in a classroom setting. obviously its a huge adjustment for him. he is used to being the center of attention and now hes not. and they dont understand that. or dont want to. i have also had problems with his afternoon driver. she refuses to drop him off on the district assigned stop she drops him on the busy main road instead. where people dont stop for the bus. he could get hit and killed. i am out there to get him but still. thats not her fault. i feel the bus stuff is racial. because she is black we are white and where i live blacks think they are owed something and better than white folks. i disagree i believe we are all equals. i have had several meetings regarding the school targeting my son it gets me nowhere the teacher even admitted

i am a divorced parent of 2 boys and i am terriffied of the school system labeling my kids.. if my kids dont eat the school lunch they question it.. if they dont feel like playing on recess.. they question it... the school knows about the divorce and at some point they had linked one of my kids behavior to the divorce.. they asked me to take him to a counselor who in turn told me that my son is most likely bored at school because his inteligence is very advanced and that he was more than willing to test him... i dont want him tested because it will be another form of labelin ...

we have moved and my daughter has had to change schools, she is in her first year. I send my daughter to school with cordial in her drink bottle, as we all drink this. There is no benefit to drinking water over cordial in the physiological sense, as the body still uses the water either way, i understand the sugar could cause tooth decay, but i use diet cordial anyway. The teacher has now told my daughter that if she brings cordial again that she will tip it out and fill it with water, but im annoyed with this, if i drink stright water, i get heartburn and my daughter hates plain water, as she isnt used to it. how should i approach the teacher on this matter
