One night I worked until about 3am, the next day she asked where I was, and I asked how she knew I was gone, she said she didn't see me when she woke up. I asked what do you mean when? She said she wakes up every night, but didn't elaborate. I never hear her, or hear her cry, and she wakes up for school fine, what do you suppose this is?

So there is this kid, and he is in 5th grade and he has had many altercations before but today it went out of hand. This kid is not mental! He was running down the hallways cussing, and pushing people out of the way, my mother who is a teacher, grabbed him and told him to stop. Then he started cussing at my mother and punching, kicking, and puching my mother and many other teachers. This kid had also pushed my little(5th grade) brother in the brick wall 5 times! My dad and i are both poed and we dont know what to do. do you think that i have the right to be poed and to go and complain to the principle tommorow that this kid needs to be expelled?

I have a 6yr. old son 1st grader. He is a bright boy, but his teacher tells me he has trouble reading. Well actually he has trouble putting letters together to say a word. He knows the sounds letters make. And he is good at spelling. We read together at night and do flash cards, even have a leap frog computer game that helps with spelling out words. Do I need to maybe have see a counsler to see if he has a learning problem or is their other reading tips out there that might help? Any school teachers out there let me know what you think I should probably try.

Ok so my 6 yr old said a bad word at school today. He's not said many in his life really and in our house we unfortunately use some choice words to which i am trying to repair. So i thought about saop in the mouth. Has anyone else had troubel with this and if so how did you handle it getting the best results. He's a good kid but has minor adhd plus dad is on his 3rd tour in Iraq so i'm needless to say kind of thin in the patients department. Help anyone?

Both of my children have chores that need done around the house. For my olderst sons birthday my husband and I got him a gerbel. For the past week the gerbel has been missing. When I asked my son where the thing went he told me god took it. This really upset me because the way he said it really worried my husband and I. Then just an hour ago i was vaccuming the dining room and the bag blew up because somehing inside of it was too big to fit. When it blew up dusy particles and odd chunky stuff went flying in the air. Thats when I realized it was teh gerbel that "god took" what should I do?? How do I handle this as aparet?

My son brought home a history test that he had failed. The teacher wanted me to sign it and send it back. I have no problem with that. The problem I have is that the piece of paper I am looking at it only has a,b,c,d answers on it. I can't see what the questions were and I don't know what the answer options were. I don't feel like I can help my son if I am not able to see what it is he is having problems with. My seven year old will bring home a spelling test and I can see what he did wrong and help him with it. Granted the test is over and done with but I think he still needs to know what he did wrong and what the right answer is. This is a subject he struggles in any way. I have requested a parent/ teacher meeting but the teacher won't set one up. My husband finally had to go to the school today to get the guidance councilor to set one up. I don't blame the teacher for his failing grades but I do wish that she would enable me to help him more at home.

My daughter has a very out-going personality - when she is with me or her Dad. However, she was recently asked to go to tea after school with a friend. When she got there, she wouldn't go into the house, saying that she was scared and wanted her Mom. It was very embarrassing as the Mother had to bring her home. She has now been asked to another friends house after school. She said that she wanted to go and I explained to the child's mother what had happened last time. As soon as we were home, my daughter said that she didn't want to go and again said that she was scared. She can't tell me what she is scared of and it is very, very frustrating for me and her dad. I know that if she decides to go, I will get a phone call to pick her up as soon as she gets there. We have tried everything that we can think of, to make her more confident about going to new places but nothing seems to work. There seems to be some underlying issue of anxiety, which I don't really understand. Help!!

I have twins that are in the 3rd grade They are both wonderful kids. I'm having a problem with my daughter's self esteem My son(her twin brother)is advanced for his age. He is VERY smart in advanced classes and everything. At school she refers to herself as the dumb one She is very quiet and embarrasses easily. She never gats straight A's like her brother, she has a hard time reading and struggles in math. Her teacher said she doesn't even raise her hand to answer ?'s or anything in class anymore. She is not at all a stupid child or anything she just has to work hard She sees how easily everything comes for her brother and she gives up. I try to talk to her and help with her homework and studing for tests but she acks like she doesn't care. When I ask her something she will say to ask her brother he's the smart one. Any sugestions on how I can help her feel confident and proud about who she is .We have never compared any of our kids with each other. They are each unique individuals.Any ideas?

I'm thinking digital of course, but I have heard that the quality of some of those kid-proof cameras is terrible. I don't want to spend a lot on something that might break, but if the quality stinks, she'll get frustrated with it.

I am getting induced tomorrow and the only person me and my husband trusts to watch our 2 year old son overnight changed her mind at the last minute and can't take him. Does anyone know if hospitals allow you other child to stay the night too in when you have no one else to take your kid? Or would they let me go home the same day , in this case?
