I need to make cupcakes, not alot, only a dozen. I have flour, baking soda/powder, eggs, milk, vanilla, margerine. Main problem is I only have 1/3cup of sugar, but I have applesauce and brown sugar if that helps.

I saw your question in food & drink, too.......Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. I don't know how to make cupcakes without more sugar. Brown sugar will throw off the balance, because it's moister. You could make muffins, they use less sugar, or go buy a cake mix, they only cost about $2.

make applesauce cupcakes that way you can use the brown sugar and wont have to worry about the white sugar......... and it won't affect the taste

I'm not sure what all you need since I don't know what recipe you are using, but if you can't get to the store, why not just ask your neighbor to borrow a cup of sugar?

applesauce is good it takes the place of the oil better for you to. as far as the sugar goes i dont know what to tell you there sorry.
