Well I'm a leader for campers in a Girl Scout troop (Juniors- third grade to 5th grade) I'm going to be a captain of them. We have to come up with a song or skit at the end of the day. We have to dress up as pirates too. Any good ideas? How should I act around this age group?

Always remember that you are the leader, don't be one of the girls. You can have fun, but always keep your position as leader in your mind.

A fun pirate skit:

Have the pirates lined up on deck facing the audience.

The Captain (on one end of the line) pantomimes looking through a telescope, then tells the pirate next to her to "load the cannon!"

The pirate next to the captain passes the command down the line. When the command reaches the last pirate, the pirate says "I don't know how?"
This gets passed back up the line.
The captain says "like this!" and pantomimes loading a cannon. This gets passed back down the line to the last pirate.
The captain looks through the telescope and says "turn 15 degrees starboard!" this gets passed down the line.
Last pirate says "I don't know how?" and passes back up the line.
Captain says "like this!" and pantomimes turning the wheel. This gets passed down the line.
The captain then says "fire the cannon!" and this gets passed down the line."
The last pirate says "I don't know how." and passes back up the line.
The Captain says "Like this!" and pantomimes pulling the cord on a cannon. This gets passed down the line.
When the last pirate pulls the cord, all the pirates yell bang! and act like a big explosion has taken place.
The captain then looks through the telescope and says "We did it! We did it" and this gets passed down the line.
The last pirate asks "We did what?" and it goes back up the line.
The Captain replies "we sunk a canoe!" and passes down the line. All the pirates should start dancing around and chanting "We sunk a canoe, we sunk a canoe" and then exit the stage.

Practice a few times, and make the actions overly dramatic and have fun. Have the girls practice saying the lines loud enough so the audience in the back of the campfire can hear. Make it simple, keep it fun.

Keep on Scoutin'
