Absolutely! There are some pretty repulsive scenes in that movie; the language can be vulgar at times; and I can imagine it would induce some nightmares. I'd wait until at least 13 for this one.

I would say it depends a great deal on the individual children and their maturity level. Some 8 year olds would be horribly upset and have nightmares after seeing Gremlins, while some 6 year olds would enjoy the movie (although they would probably be frightened at times during the viewing of the movie).

I believe I was about 8 or 9 when Gremlins first came out, and I saw it around that time. I wasn't too horrified, although I think I did have some nightmares for a short time after seeing it. I remember being afraid that Gremlins might be hiding in the closet, or under the bed.....In particular, that winter, riding in the car was frightening for me....but I don't think I was particularly traumatized by the movie. Kids that age have quite an imagination anyway, the movie only gave the fears a name.

A few years ago I watched Gremlins for the first time as an adult. I remembered the movie being really scary in my childhood mind. When I saw it as an adult, I laughed because I realized how cheesy the movie actually was. But when I was a kid, that stuff was scary!

If they're your kids, then you know them best. You know whether or not they would be able to handle being scared. Gremlins is, in my opinion, a scary movie made for kids, so many kids can certainly handle it. Scary movies made to scare adults are usually too intense for young children, but movies made to scare kids are usually able to be handled by most children, except those who are particularly sensitive and easily frightened.

Gremlins might be, I would suggest Gremlins 2 because it has more of a Comedy feel to it. Gremlins is funny though if you look at it in a certain way. I havn't seen it in a while but I know I saw it around then. An 8 year old wouldn't be scary. A 6 year old probably not scary also. I have a lot of kids in my house and grew up with a lot.

I think it is too scary(from personal experience). I watched that when I was a kid and was scared out of my mind. Every time it got dark I was afraid Gremlins were going to come. I used to hate power failures.

I actually had not watched the movie since that first time, up until a few weeks ago(I caught it on cable). As an adult, I laughed at the fact that I once thought it was scary. Kids are scared of things, that adults may find to funny to be scary.

Horror movies are for adults, not children. Even kids that say they will not be scared often are. I would wait until they are older, unless you want to try it and possibly be awake all night with a scared child.

Gremlins is an American horror-comedy movie so I think a 6 or 8 year old wouldn't find anything funny about it.

You know your kids best, so that's Your call.
when I was 8 my older brother made me watch Jaws, Freddy Kruger, Jason Movies and I was fine with it, and still think they're funny. But my Daughter ( who's 5 now) can't sit through "Ghostbusters" which is flat out a comedy so It depends on the kid and how they react to things.

That would depend upon the 6 and 8 year old I think my daughter first saw them when she was three or four.
