Pregnancy & Parenting - 26 December 2007

On Christmas Day everyone in our family was at our house, Seeing as it is biggest. I have 3 kids, the 6 year old and 3 year old played with their cousins. The youngest, Saffron(6months) needed breastfeeding.

Me and my husband were cooking, only 5 of about 25 people helped, when Saffron was hungary, i had to give her a bottle, which she doesnt enjoy.

Each year everyone comes around to our house, but by this time next year, i will have two who are breastfeeding, so i need some tips on how to manage next year!

Did you manage to get around this or was everybody stuck like me??

My head feels like it wants to explode as it is all blocked up and the pharmacy wont give me anything to take - they say I can take paracetamol but not decongestant. Any advice to relive the pressure building in my head??? Thanks

Why do people insist on getting creative with spelling; instead of Ashley, it's Ashleigh or Ashlee or Ashliyeh, for instance? Do people stop to think that their kid is going to have to deal with people mispelling their name for the rest of the life? (this is bad enough for me and "Tristan" isn't THAT tough a name to spell). You don't have to name your kid Fred or John or Joan or Jane, but you don't have make up something that sounds like it was dreamt up by a ten year old.

It just seems so thoughtless and tacky... why do people do it? It's like how people will make fun of made up names like Shanene or Malikwa or Latisha; how's it any different?

He is six years old and we put a stop to him sleeping with us when he was about three. In the last six months or so he has started sneeking into our bed. When I asked him why he says that it is warm and comfortable in our bed. It started out once a week to every night. I put him back in his bed and sometimes he stays and sometimes he trys all night long. Help!!!

5 days ago i gave birth to my baby daughter, and i was aged 13 (i got pregnant through rape) and i decided yesterday id like to introduce her to the family and because i hadnt been out of the house since i brought kayleigh home, i thought id walk her to my nans house, and the amount of people giving me dirty looks and pointing and whispering was unbelievable!
its really upsetting, ive always been good, looked after my appearance, tried hard at my education, and i still will, but now i have a pram to push around with me, people have decided theyre going to hate me, half of them dont even know she is mine! i could be babysitting!
i dont resent kayleigh-jade, she is the most precious thing, but im just coming to ask that when you see a 13 year old girl walking down the street with a pram, please think before you judge her, it breaks my heart to be snubbed because i have a child. though, no matter what anyone thinks, i will love my daughter more than anyone, shes my priority.

i had this done yesterday around 3 p.m. i spotted a little and feel a little sore, i guess, but really i don't feel any different. i had like a couple of moments of cramping right after my dr. did it and no contractions. did you not feel anything for a while too if it worked for you or is this an idication that this probably isn't going to do anything for me?

I need to start potty training my son, he will be 3 in April. We have bought him a teddy bear potty which looks like a seat. However, whenever I take off his nappy, he screams the place and will not go near his potty. He would rather pee on my new carpet! I have offered him goodies if he 'wee wee's on the potty but he refuses. I eventually give in and put his nappy on him and he is then fine. Any ideas? as this did not happen with my 1st child, he did it within a week.............

my daughter is 2weeks old and ive only gotten 2 hours a sleep a night or less since shes been home...so im pretty much a zombie. my mom took her today and shes with her now..because my mom wanted me to get some rest...and my sister is taking her tommarow....i really like them helping me but it makes me feel like a bad mom...im the one that should be taking care of her right?

It's something I'm thinking of trying when and if I go past my due date (which doesn't look likely at the moment!) I just had a look online and cannot find anywhere that sells it! pretty hot (of course) he's Chloe's boyfriend.... but he's the good kind, like sweet, um.......... you know what I mean.
Maybe dark brown hair, but not blonde (even though I like blonde guys), and brown eyes. kind of cowboy, not really really cowboy, but kinda. I read one about if your wee is bright yellow or dull yellow can determine what gender baby you are having.
(personally I think it has more to do with how much water you are drinking!)

Also heard that lots of heartburn can mean having a baby with lots of hair. I always thought this was rubbish but then I read a report that used reasearch to determine that there can be a scientific link due to common hormones or something.

So what old wives tales have you heard? What ones do you believe and what ones are just rubbish!

Just some fun trivia, I'm a little bored, lol!!

my 3 month old will cry a lil cry in his sleep from time to time. i feed him and change his diaper after the first time he does it. then i wait 3 hours and do it again. durrin the night. but in between he can make lil whiney noises and i'm okay with that but my mom seems to be jumpin up for every lil sound he makes and i feel like she's makin me feel like i'm not bein a good mom or something. and if he goes past 3 hours sleepin without a bottle she says he's not gettin his nutrition he needs and that he should have the bottle even if it means wakin him up to give it to him....? i can't wait till i move out. so that way i can jus hang up on her instead of hearin her constant naggin.

My 2.5 mth feeds like there's no tomorrow, which leads to bloated tummy when he finishes and that makes it very uncomfortable for him to be burp sitting on my lap because his round tummy will be on the way. i cant burp him upright against my shoulder cause his neck is still rubbery and of course if I burp him on my forearm, it can cause him to vomit.

Does day one of your cycle have to be when the bleeding is heavy? I am having some bleeding, but it is light, no need for a tampon or anything. Just wondering becuase I have to start my Clomid on day 3.
