My 2.5 mth feeds like there's no tomorrow, which leads to bloated tummy when he finishes and that makes it very uncomfortable for him to be burp sitting on my lap because his round tummy will be on the way. i cant burp him upright against my shoulder cause his neck is still rubbery and of course if I burp him on my forearm, it can cause him to vomit.

i can't make him sit cos his tummy is hard and round from overeating and i can't do anything that will press his tummy. he can only lay sprawled on my forearm..like a burger eating champion ..lol

you need to burp him during the feed. If you are breast feeding, feed on one side then burp, then do the other side and burp.
Or burp after 15 mins then finish the feed and burp again.
If bottle fed, do half the bottle, then burp, then the other half of the bottle.

If you burp half way through feeds you shouldn't have the problem of a bloated tummy and he should be able to sit on your knees with one of your hands support him under the chin and the other rubbing/patting his back.

best of luck

When I had my baby I had the same problem. What you do is make sure he is in your lap properly and securely, then put the area between your thumb and index finger right under his chin and burp him. That way you're not pressing his tummy. Also when my baby still had a weird neck I would burp her on my shoulder, but I would put her head against my shoulder and lean back so she wouldn't go backwards. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you need to pace him. Instead of letting him "feed like there's no tomorrow", stop him once or twice during a feeding to burp, then keep feeding.
My girl was the same way...champion eater and big time spitter! Burping breaks helped a lot.

what about sittin up on your lap? put one hand on his tummy then pat him with the other one. the lean he gets from the hand on the tummy can help the burp come up. don't forget to rub him. keep one hand on the tummy and rub his back upwards motion. you can always lay him on your shoulder thats how they showed me the first day he was born. don't worry your baby is not as breakable as you may think. UNLESS there's some kinda doctors orders like if your baby has something like spinal displacia or something.... but if your baby is perfectly healthy from what the pediatritian has told you then you have nothing to worry about puttin them on your shoulder to burp unless you have really really bony shoulders and jus don't feel comfortable doin it that way?

try sitting on a chair with your legs uncrossed and your feet planted firmly on the groud and then placing your bub stomach down just above your knees and patting his back.
