Pregnancy & Parenting - 18 December 2007

Here is the situation. My husband and I vastly disagree about who should be godparents to our unborn twins. We are ELCA Lutherans, if that makes any difference. We have a daughter, and got her baptized when she was 7 months old because we could not agree on the godparents. We finally agreed on friends, one who goes to church regularly, and one who definitely has faith, but doesn't attend church regularly. Now it seems like a dauting task to have to agree on godparents for the twins.

My husband believes that it should be someone who we feel close to, and who would be a good role model for our child throughout life. While I agree with this, I also believe that since this is one of two sacraments that our church practices, this is a religious event, and the godparents to our children should at the very least be those who believe in God, Jesus, and have a good sense of spirituality. My husband wants to choose a good friend who only goes to church for weddings and funerals. Help!

Which name do you prefer,

CATRIONA [ca-TREE-on-a]

or

CATALINA [kah-tah-LEE-nah]

They really aren't hard to pronouce, but the pronouciations are there for those who are ignorant. :)

If you're here just to say, I prefer Catherine or Katrina, or some other common variation, go on to the next one.

My wife being 10 weeks pregnant began noticing some light spotting, I mean very light. the next morning, it had increased substansually and feeling some cramping. We took her to her OBGYN. Now note, we still owe $240 for recent visits. We are not disputing or trying to hide from paying it. We are paying on it, I guess not as fast as he wants because we live on a tight budget. When I got her to the doctor's office, he refused to see her because we owed the amount and made it clear that he wouldn't until the balance was paid. "that we could go to the emergency room" Being the symptoms my wife is having is signs of a miscarriage, he showed no concern of my wife's condition or for the child she is carrying. We did go the the ER and found out everything is fine. It was just the principle of he refused to see her due the the current circumstances. Im considering writing a complaint to the state medical review board. It felt like the money was more important

Aimee Chanelle and Kateri Adelaide

Aimee and Kateri are staying for sure, but the middle names I can work on.

Chanelle is after my grandmother, and before you say oh, that reminds me of the brand Chanel, Chanel/Chanelle was a popular French girl's name LONG before the brand came on.

Your opinions on these names please, and suggestions if you have any.

I was takin Modicon for a year or two, and then my insurance didnt cover the place I was getting it from anymore, so I had to go to another place. They had Modicon but only in generic. I started them after my next period. Was that the right time to start them? And is there any chance I could get pregnant while switching from one to the other? PLEASE HELP!

Ok..My son of 14 years came home today with a penis drawed around his belly button..When i asked who did it he said a guy? He don't see anything wrong with it??? He's always coming home with something written on his hand or his arms..this is the first time its been something vulgar like this..usually its names or something like that..We've told him time and time again not to be drawing on his self but yet he still does it and this time its a penis...uggghhh..So my question is how do I explain the reasoning why this isn't right and what should I do...put him on restriction, or what?? My daughter has always been good to go to bed, she has a story or two in her bedroom and normally falls asleep during. I read to her one night then my husband reads to her the next which has been fine. All of a sudden she insists that she needs me to read the story everynight. When I explain that its daddy's turn she says ok then when he takes her up to her room, she tells him she needs mummy or I don't like my bed; bedroom. What can I do to rectify this. I'm pregnant with my third child and we found out it was a girl not too long ago :)

My two other children are Chloe Elizabeth and Nicholas Anthony.
My husband and I love the name Lucy for a girl, and I want her middle name to be Christine, after my sister. My husband doesn't like it and thinks that we should use something else. I also like Lucy Danielle. Any ideas? All suggestions are welcome!

My baby should be arriving any day now! Im the first among my family/cousins to have a baby in quite a few years. So im not quite sure how the baby announcements are done nowadays.

Do I use the picture from the hospital and just send the picture with a card?? Or is this method outdated? Do I wait until I take baby in for pictures... if so it may be over a month!

Whats the announcement etiquette nowadays? If you do use the hospital pictures how do I get copies of them, etc?

I'm really into unique names, but most of mine are down-to-earth. For a girl, I really like the name Arden. I feel it is not used often, and is pretty. I also like Kendall. It may be more common than Arden, but it's also pretty. For a boy, I like Peyton and Reed. Peyton is now commonly used for a girl, but I feel it is more of a masculine name. I think it is unique and strong sounding. Reed is just a name I have grown to love. I think it is simple yet sophisticated. What do all of you think of these names?
