Aimee Chanelle and Kateri Adelaide

Aimee and Kateri are staying for sure, but the middle names I can work on.

Chanelle is after my grandmother, and before you say oh, that reminds me of the brand Chanel, Chanel/Chanelle was a popular French girl's name LONG before the brand came on.

Your opinions on these names please, and suggestions if you have any.

Thanks!

BTW, I'm using my friend's account. So previous questions are irrelavent.

Do you prefer Kateri Adelaide or Kateri Ariane?

For the last poster: I don't think they'll fight over who gets more meaningful names because Kateri is my husband's grandmother's middle name. Kateri Adelaide flows better than Adelaide Kateri, so we decided to go with Kateri as the first name. Besides, Kateri and Aimee rhyme, so that's cute.

I like Aimee, love that someone is using Kateri (especially if you are part Mohawk!), love Adelaide and am okay with Chanelle - but if it's your grandmother's name, that bumps it up into the "I like it" category for me. :)

My one observation is that Aimee's name is very French, and Kateri's less so. If it were me, I might play around a bit with Kateri Chanelle and Aimee with a different middle name.

All gorgeous though.

EDIT: And to "Ryan" below, Aimée is the French spelling of Amy - or rather, WE took the FRENCH word "aimée" and transformed it to Amy in English. Kateri is also a perfectly valid name - just not that common. There is nothing wrong with the intelligence of someone who picks these names.

By the way, Ryan, if you are so concerned with a child getting ahead in life, I'd consider a longer form for Katie - I don't know many doctors or lawyers who don't have a more formal form of that name...

I don't know how to pronounce Kateri, but I like Ariane better than Adelaide. I like Chanelle, maybe even Chanelle Ami with an accent over the i.

Personally, I'm not wild about Aimee, but it is a classic name that wears equally well for a child and an adult. So Aimee Chanelle, especially with the nod to your grandmother, is a nice choice.

Kateri is kind of out there. You're thinking of the saint, right? I understand her name is actually said GAH-day-lee. I'm guessing you're going to go with Kah-ter-ee instead. On the one hand, it's an exotic choice. On the other hand, it will be vaguely familiar to many because of the saint, and could always be shortened to the super common Kate if your daughter doesn't care to stand out.

All that makes for an interesting choice of name. I do prefer Kateri Adelaide to Kateri Ariane - the "er" and "ar" sounds run together when you use Ariane, but Adelaide has a nice, distinct flair to it.

Best wishes!

I like Kateri Adelaide better, although I don't really like Kateri in the first place. I don't like Chanelle, but I respect you keeping family names going. I know a lot of people on here don't like names I have chosen, but they having special meaning and are ones I want to keep in the family.
Anyways, compared to some names people post on here, yours are pretty good.
