My husband is Dominican and dark-skinned. I am white and pretty fair skinned. Of course I think about how my baby is going to look just like any parent does - regardles of race. I think about what color his eyes will be, if he'll have a little button nose, etc. However, I fell like EVERYONE else focuses on what his skin tome will be. They say they hope he takes after me - even his family says it. I find that so odd andnever know how to respond so I just say that he has two good looking parents so he'll be lucky either way.

Of course I know my husband is dark but I never think about it -- he is just my husnband to me. It's only when others stress it that it makes me think about it. Anyone else having a bi-racial baby experience this?

This weekend is my 8 year old son's birthday party. I invited some of the boys in his class. Since I hadn't received many rsvp's, I called all the children's parents, who'd not responded. One of these mothers was so rude to me and was acting like I'd caught her at a bad time or something. I quickly explained that I was only asking because I needed a head count for food, etc. She actually said her son would attend. I was quite surprised since she sounded completely pissed at me or something. So, if she and her son do show up, I'm afraid she's going to do or say something to ruin his party. I asked my son which boy hers was and he said, "Oh, he's the one who needs to lose weight!" Oh boy. My wheels got spinning and I realised that this boy is probably being made fun of by the kids in the class and this Mom is going to use my son's party as a way of getting even. What should we do?

OK, so I feel like the worst mother in the world, but I just felt frustrated that my 3 week old daughter would not go to sleep and was unsettled and crying and I got "angry" and yelled at her (just asking, "whats wrong") ! I also handled her firmly (wrapped her tightly, don't panic everyone) as I was just so tired. My husband works night shift and isn't here to help me and its 2am ! Has anyone else felt like this, or is there something wrong with me ??

I would really like a little brother or sister. How do I convince my parents to have another.
-I'm 15 and my bro is 16
-Don't say wait till I can have babies of my own.
-I've wanted a baby bro/sis since I was 5!

isn't gaining enough. At her 6 month check up yesterday she weighed only 15 lb 6 oz. At birth she weighed 9 lb 5 oz. She nurses 6-7 times a day and sleeps through the night. So that equals to 2-3 hours between feedings.
The doctor told me to start solids and then wait 4-5 hours between feedings. Isn't that going to hurt my supply? I thought frequent nursing made supply go up not postponing feedings. And do solids help with weight gain? I don't know if she's really getting enough liquid because I don't think she has 6-8 soaking wet diapers a day. And when I pump I can only get out AT MOST 2 1/2 oz.
I'd really like to keep breastfeeding but I am willing to BF in the morning and before bed but formula feed during the day if that would help her gain better
Please give any advice. Maybe I'm just too worried and she's growing just fine and isn't a chubby baby. She's very happy and content most of the time.

My sister in law is pregnant. She's due sometime early June. She took that Down's Syndrome test and they said that she was a 1 in 86 chance that the baby will have it. She is 28 yrs old and apparently that's a high risk for someone her age. She is very upset. I don't know much about this type of test and I've looked online and read a little about it. Did anyone else have this test done and have abnormal results? What did you do? When the baby was born did it have Down Syndrome? I'm just trying to educate myself so any stories, or experiences with this would be nice. Thank you.

In my last question I asked about foster to adopt programs and why so many people want to adopt from the system straight off the bat without serving the foster program first.
I got an incredibly rude answer off one person, informing me that as a foster parent who has adopted one foster child, with another adoption in the pipeline, I shouldn't receive my monthly stipend to pay for my foster children's upkeep. For the record my husband earns excellent money and we no longer accept a stipend once the children are permanently in our care-this is done so our children don't feel we are being paid to have them.

My question is, how dare somebody imply that foster parents are 'paid' to have these children, when they as adoptive parents get a huge tax credit for adopting?

I have a baby (my first) who will be two months old December 18. I remember when I was pregnant thinking "how can anyone get post-partum depression? I will be so happy when the baby comes" And I was happy when the baby came. But since then we've had to move (not an easy thing to do in winter with a newborn) and my car has broke down so I'm stuck here at the new place with no transportation. My husband has been working all day and is still moving stuff from the old place which leaves me alone a lot. I've been really moody and most nights end with us fighting and me sleeping alone in my room with the baby and him on the couch. It's a downward spiral. On one hand, yes i'm moody/sad/angry and depressed for a number of reasons. On the other hand, I feel like a single mother despite the fact that I'm with my husband. He does not understand what it's like and is not very supportive. What should I do?If not for my baby I think I'd kill myself right now. She's the only thing worth living for.

I started my son a few days ago. He had begun waking up more often than usual prior to the solids, but he wakes up about every two hours. I am trying to figure out a possible cause. He's not too hot, not too cold, only eats once or twice (and not that many ounces), pj's are comfy, etc.

the night before last I had forgoten the a class was up in our duaghter's room. I went out to rent some movies and left her with her dad and one of his friends. (she was in her room up stairs when I left and when I came back and they were down stairs and playing videogames). When I came in the door, I was informed that she had broken the glass and cut herself. I ran upstairs and checked on her, she was in her crib and trying to take off the bandage. I kissed her "ouchy", I picked up the remaining pieces of class on the floor and told her I was sorry. When I went back down stairs I told him I was sorry for forgetting about the glass as well. "I don't care" is all he said to me for the rest of the night. (I later yelled at him and his friend for talking and acting like they were twisting the actresses niples during the movies.)
I felt so bad for yelling at him and for what happened to my baby girl that I cried my self to that night.

Okay, now that i'm a little more relaxed i'll share w. you guys.

My fiance & and I have been TTC for 2 months now. The first month we just did our thing, but the second month i used the 'Answer' ovulation kit. When i got my dark line indicating that i was ovulating, we got right on it! My period was due on 12/8. I tested on that day and got a negative HPT. I just tested this morning and saw the two lines. i wanted to tell my fiance in a sweet way..maybe diner or something.. but i just ran in the room screaming.

Thank you to everyone for your support, and dealing w. all my rants.

I have just read an amazing essay written by a first/birth mother - Heather Lowe - written in 1999 - in regard to suggestions for reform in adoption.

http://www.adopting.org/BirthmothersViewOfAdoption.html

It's lengthy (grab a coffee) - but I would appreciate views on the essay if you have the time to read it.

Many of these practices do not occur in Australia or the UK.

Do you think these reforms are achievable in the U.S., where adoption numbers per year are quite astounding??
(over 130,000 per year)

Do you think that prospective adoptive parents would benefit from reading this before adopting??

So, aright im 35 weeks pregnant with my 3rd daughter. this will be the first birth my husband will be able to attend due to military. so we are very excited. this pregnancy has been very different than my last 2. low more pain and discomforts. my first question is do you tend to have your babies earlier the more you have? my other 2 were induced at 37 weeks. 2nd) i went for my first walk in a long long time yesterday and today it feels like i have alot of pain and pressure in my low low abdomin. almost in the cervical area. im already 1cm and 30% and -3 station. but thats been that way for 1 month now. 3) how can i get my body to dialate more? i dont oviously want to go into labor right now but it would be nice if when i have to that i only would have like 5 or 6 to go not 9. lol 4) my last 2 kids were epidural babies. but i have degenerative disk disease so i am not able to get an epidural without alot of pain. so this one will be batural and im scared. any advice or tips for me?
