Pregnancy & Parenting - 18 November 2007

I am thinking of buying one for my newborn. The one that looks best is the "close baby carrier".

Anybody out there used/using one? If so I just have a couple of questions:

1) Does it give adequate support to a newborn's head?
2) Does it make your back uncomfortable. I have a muscular strain at my lower back and am a little worried about wearing a sling.

Unfortunately I havent got much choice - I have a toddler as well and need some way to transport the two of them around. It is easier for the toddler to go in the buggy (cos she is not much of a walker) and for me to carry the newborn around.

Every Christmas we get a live tree, but this year is especially wonderful, because we will have a 9 month old little boy to help us celebrate! We were curious if we could still have a live tree? Do babies have any special allergy requirements for live trees? ( you know...no milk before a year, no honey before a year, no citrus...etc.) Thanks so much for you info!

I keep seeing responses of it being illegal past age 5. My daughter is 3 and my boyfriends son is 6. Neither of our children live with us right now but we have a bedroom for them with bunk beds....my daughter has the bottom and his son has the top.......is this illegal?.....Its only for when they do sleep overs.....my daughter is coming to live with me in March is this going to pose a problem because it looks like they are sharing a room.....we are in MA

Yesterday I just got home from for a week off for Thanksgiving after not being home (I was at boarding school) for over three months. I got in some trouble at school maybe one to two weeks or so after I got there and they called him and he is still angry about it and punished me yesterday. What is extremely ridiculous is that I didn't get in any trouble at all after that so why is making a big deal over something that happened almost three months ago, I told him to just get over it but he told me not to tell him how to parent and to watch my mouth.

I am disgusted, I mean we haven't seen each other in months so why is he more focused on punishing me when he should be extremely pleased to see me. He told me I was warned not to get in any trouble or cause him to get calls about so I have no one to blame but myself, so I told him to consider blaming himself for some mediocre parenting that is focused on negativity.

Why is my daddy so unreasonable?

My hubby and I had unprotected sex. I am on the pill but sinces its not 100% and we arent ready for kids yet but would be ok if it was to happen....
So basicly My last period started on Nov. 8th. I'm pretty regular now being on the pill so the next time ill get it will be 28-29 days from now.
We are kinda nervous but I looked online and it seems it should be ok but can anyone give us some thoughts? Thanks

My son and I just got home from his therapist appointment and he told her (and asked her to tell me) that he and his girlfriend (she is 15) had sex. Just once, a month ago, at the beach during a group bonfire party. They snuck off when no one was looking.

So I didn't flip out and had the talk about birth control, STD's and pregnancy. I am at a loss as to what to do now. My husband (his step-father) and I both work. I get home about 2 hours after my son gets home from school. It isn't like he runs wild, I know where he is almost all the time.

They (my son and his gf) go to different schools and only see each other 1 - 2 times a week.

The girls mom called me last Friday and wants to have a "mother to mother" talk with me next weekend. I guess she knew before I did. What do I do? Do I provide condoms? I don't want to condone the sex but not sure how I can stop them. Do I ask the girls mom to make sure she goes on the pill or gets the shot? I don't want to be a grandma this early.

How many women out there actually got false negatives from the serum test? Does it eventually turn into a positive, and at what time? Is it possible to not have detectable traces of HCG the whole pregnancy?

I'm worried now. I've got a negative blood result come back, but then someone says they know a friend of a friend who popped a baby with negative serum results too.

my husband and i just found out friday that we are expecting twin boys. i am 20 weeks....we found out at our ultrasound. i feel like i am behind! i have been doing research....is it true that i need to have everything ready (just incase) when i am 30 weeks?...if so that gives me only 10 weeks and i havent even started! when did you deliver? do i need to start putting a nursery together now? what do i and dont i need 2 of. obviously we will need 2 carseats.....but what about beds??? what did you do? any advice would be appriciated. thank you.
