There is no age limit and I find that comment completely stupid. There are plenty of families where kids of the same sex share a room. My neighbor has twins, boy and girl, that are in 1st grade and still share a room.
If you're really worried about it, you can check with your pediatrician, but you'll be fine. There aren't any bedroom cops ;).
Personally, if you're daughter is coming to live with you and you can afford it, I'd see that your daughter has her own room. If not, I'd suggest having the son and the father sleep in one room
Best Wishes =]

I have never heard of it being illegal for children of the opposite sex to share a bedroom. My own did, until the first was nearing puberty, then the boy had a different room from the 2 older girls, but the baby girl stayed in his room, til he was about 9 or 10.
I would check with Child Services if at all worried, but I can't see it being true. What of those poorer families who don't have that many bedrooms?

Here is an answer from that post that Cindy R wrote...
"oh the illegal to share rooms after age 5 for opposite sexes is just for foster and adoptive homes not for brother and sister living with bio parents"

It's not illegal.
When I was young, we lived in a 3 bedroom home. I shared a room with a sister, and my oldest sister shared a room with our brother for quite some time. There is nothing wrong with that. :)

You do what you have to do. If there is no other space, then sharing is what's done.

My kids, a boy and girl, shared a room for a couple of years.

It isn't illegal, but I would caution you to set up ground rules that take into account that the children are not blood related and have had different experiences for your daughters protection. For instance, they should not change in the room at the same time, they should not be in the room alone with the door closed, etc.

i think of the priority you get carry of with maximum of those solutions is that maximum assumed you have been in the US. It facilitates in this form of element to state the rustic you're in. in the US it rather is illegitimate for any newborn over the age of five to share a room with a newborn of the oppisite intercourse. it is likewise unlawful to have greater then 2 little ones according to mattress room (and you may desire to have a minimum of one mattress room for each 2 little ones of an analogous intercourse). Now those rules rather are not all that enforceable, except you have a run in with newborn centers or the police, besides. in my opinion i think of that oppisite intercourse little ones would desire to be in seperate rooms. ie a ten year previous boy does not would desire to demonstrate screen his 13 year previous sister get undressed. At a definite element little ones do deserve privateness from each physique, yet ecspecially those of the oppisite intercourse. in spite of this, all my youngsters are females, so I will never would desire to deal with this subject lol.

I have never heard of this, but I saw that post, too. You could probably check with your health department or even the family doctor may know. That seems crazy to me. What are people supposed to do that can't afford a bigger home. I don't know how that would be legal. Good luck!!

I would find out what your local laws state on that. Especially considering at this point these children are not related by blood and you and your BF are not married so they aren't step siblings yet. Personally I wouldn't do it.
