I think that names can shape a person's outlook on life, and the path's they take. If you love the name Blue use it for a middle name, I really like it for a middle name. However if you name him Blue for the first name, it will be hard for him to be taken seriously. I don't ever see him being a successful professional, such as a doctor, executive, or company owner, and I don't think he will see himself as that either. He is more likely to be a very free-spirited artist, or a writer (who writes a book for ten years instead of working) etc. This may be the kind of child you want and that is perfectly fine, just giving you my opinion.
Good luck,

"BLUE!! YOU'RE MY BOY!!" When I read your question, all I could see in my mind was Will Ferrell.

But seriously...

If you are going to name your child after a color, a place, anything referring to nature, please don't misspell it.
My name is Amber Dawn. I like it a lot, but I am soo glad my mom didn't try to get all creative and spell it Ahmbur Dhawn

I say Blue, definitely. I also say Blue would work much better as a middle name - either that, or find a better formal name that can use the nickname Blue, like Blake or Blaze. In fact, I think even the name Blaze would work better than Blue - it's as unique as Blue, but much, much more masculine. I see the name Blue as very feminine for some reason - like the actress Dakota Blue Richards. I don't mind the idea of these unique names (especially the more normal ones, like Blue, Chance, West, etc, though I usually like them better as the middle name), especially in comparison to the stupider 'unique' names like Jaidyon and Kayleigh or whatever - that's partly why I like the spelling Blue rather than Blue. If you're going to give him a weird name anyway, spell it right lol. And 'kre8ative' spellings just bug me.

So it's not unique names, it's just this particular name on a boy. If you use it anyway, I hope the middle name begins with a J or something - BJ would be a nice alternative for the kid should he grow up and not embrace Blue or Blaze as fully as you guys do lol. Blue James? Blaze Jackson? etc.

Good luck and congrats anyway!

PS I love the name Alexis Blue Lily something (sorry, I just forgot it)! That is a gorgeous name, Alexis's mom! It's just the right mix of unique and normal, and I love it. That's the kind of name I advocate lol.

I like Blue better than Blu, but to be brutally honest with you I don't think it's a very good name for a baby boy. He might be one of those rebellious kids later on in life who runs away and changes his name to "Viper" or something like that.
All the best!

Either is fine - however you may want to consider making it a middle name that you use daily, but that he can chose to put away if he wants for professional use. Or you can name him whatever and just the call him Blue. We named our son one name and call him another - he is even known at his school by his nickname, but he has the option of either as he matures.

But if it is what you really want then go with it.

I think if you choose that distinctive of a name Blue is better, but consider it as a middle name so the kid has a choice when he gets older.

Blue.... Is a very unique name indeed! No mispelling needed
It's quirky enough on it's own!
Here are a few suggestions:

Blue Jay
Blue Andrew
Blue Raine
Blue Joseph
Blue Mitchell

or a middle name

Mitchell Blue
Michael Blue
Andrew Blue
Jason Blue
Jaxon Blue

hmm honestly i like the "sound" of that name...but if you spell it either of the ways that you're planning to, it's kinda icky......

if i HAD to chose between those two i would chose blue though, but i would realllly reccommend making up a more "unique" way of spelling the name.....

and i'm srry to say i have absolutely NO idea, how to spell it any other way, but since the name "blue" is so one syllable...i think looking at the name needs to make up for that...

like "kate" for ex. Kaytte that would make up for the one syllableness of the name or myb kaite?

i hope this helps..=]
