Hi , I was carrying twins and lost one at 8 weeks . It was weird I stopped feeling so sick and was wondering if everything was ok so I had a ultrasound at 91/2 weeks to find my twin had miscarried.. I am lucky that they were Fraternal Twins which had different sacs, so my other twin was ok , only thing was my blood is RH Neg so I had to have a Anti D just incase to protect the healthy twin.
I was told that the twin would re-absorb back into my body (disintergrate in its sac so to speak) . I had my 20 week ultrasound last week and the baby has squashed my sac that the twin was in to the side, and when I deliver this baby they have to make sure the two sacs comes away with the placenta. I did not bleed or have any pain the baby died inside of me.
If it is later on in the pregnancy and the twins share a sac then the other one has to be delivered asap, if they are fraternal and dont share a sac the woman will be monitered to make sure the other twin is ok and will give birth to two of the babies when Doctor thinks the time is right.
You still feel a loss for your twin that you miscarried, I didnt think I would feel so bad but I was really down for a few days and i felt guilty in a way for being upset as I had a healthy baby left , and I should think myself lucky that I have one healthy baby left (which I do) its a weird feeling..
Im grateful im now 21wks with my little man that survived .
As for the two DNA's what a load of %$#^

Well...a miscarriage would imply that the fetus has already been expelled. Or are you just talking about when one of the babies dies while still in the uterus? I had a friend who was pregnant with twins when she was in a car accident. She miscarried one of the babies and had to be on bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy or she might have lost the other one too. But like I said...she miscarried so the baby was already out.

If it's very early, the embryo gets reabsorbed by the body. If it's later, then they leave the baby in, because they can't induce you and deliver just one. I know people this has happened too. When the time comes, the live baby is usually delivered first, then the one that has died.

i dont know, but i had a friend that got pregnant at 19, decided to have an abortion...come to find out she was pregnant with twins. they only aborted one twin. she didn't know it until she was 6 months along and ended up having to deliver the second one still born, then one of her lungs collapsed and she ended up with uteran cancer...so..... strange things can happen. medical mystery should never be under estimated.
