Pregnancy & Parenting - 18 November 2007

I'm 38 weeks and got the big belly blues. I don't know how I'd get out of bed half the time if it wasn't for my husband giving me a good push on my back after a few attempts of waddling up and down with no success. Its the biggest pain ever reaching my toe nails for painting and trimming. The other day I tried to give myself a slight trim down there, you know the area I can no longer see due to big belly. ..well when I was finished my husband laughed at me cause apparently I didnt do such a good job trimming, there were different lengths of hair and bald spots all over! Anyone else have any big belly stories?

My sister is having twin boys and is naming them Dante and Damien. Personally I LOVE her decision. It's different, interesting, and kind of rebellious which fits her(her and her husband own a tattoo parlor and have that kind of tattooed/pierced look). She's set on these names, but I was just curious if anyone else thought the same as I did, because I love the idea.

I was speaking with a friend of mine about the upcoming christmas holiday. She has five adult children but one that is 14. Three of her children have kids of their own.

My friend was telling me how she is trying to save money and I suggested just giving a gift to her youngest daughter this year and then if she could afford to send a gift basket to her children's families. She then told me that she couldn't because she already received their wish lists and had to get them what they wanted. She was clearly perturbed about that.

My question is, who is in the wrong, if anyone?
Are the grandchildren in the wrong for openly demanding and expecting to get what they want for christmas?
Or are their parents, her children, in the wrong for condoning this?
Or is it perfectly okay since it is family?

What should I advise my friend to do? Get them what they want? Or do a family gift? Or not give them anything?

I would like to know the publics perspective in this type of situation. A 9 yr old boy was using his mother computer while she was away at work ( He is allowed to use the computer to play video games/ watch child movies etc. He was with grandparents). When she got home she checked the history and seen that her child was viewing youtube,com and searched “ Boys have sex with girls” “Girls Boobies” “Sex”. How do you think the parent should handle this situation? Be honest, if it was your child what would you do. What is the most appropriate way to handle it, should the child be confronted and punished, should the parents not mention it. Please give your thoughts.

Basically im the only resposible one in my house and im 18.I dont really know what i want ot do with my life since i have to fix my parents problems.That being said at the moment im staying at my grandmas.(she lives in Illinois and we live in Texas) Im supposed to stay till jsut after thanksgiving but i decided im going to stay.I dont know if i should stay just till like the 15th of december and go bac kfor christams.Or if i should stay and get a job so i can go to omaha(where i went to highschool) and live there and go to school.Thanks for the help i really need it.

well this may sound likea dumb question everyone knows the answer to but this has worried me because ive found what has happend odd. i know everyone says how safe dry humping is and some ppl will say sperm dies in the air, others wil say it dies after a certin period of time. but most everyone says either way if you are dry humping and orgasim in your pants then the sperm can not swim past and into the woman to get her pregnant. now me and my girfriend arent ready for sex yet so we have done dry humping a few times. what ive noticed is a bunch of times after we did it the top of my pants were wet as if the sperm went through my pants.... ive heard from some people this is only the semin and that the sperm cannot swim so its ok. this has happend mutiple times tho which has me worried about getting her pregnent, the one time that it went through the most was when she was only wearing her panties and i had 100% polyester pants on, i noticed the top of my pants were very wet after.

my aunt and uncle adopted a baby from a single woman and they've had him since birth our whole family loves him we've had him for almost five months and hes such a joy. part of the adoption process is putting an ad in the paper asking if anyone objects the adoption. a man came forward saying hes the father, and that he wants a paternity test and to try for custody. can he really take the baby? please answer if you have information.

I have 3 kids, the oldest I have every weekend, my youngest is 2, very high maintanance. I play guitar and I want to start working on music projects again, but, can't seem to get into the groove again i have so many other projects left undone, plus work , and house chores then the kids. I play grindcore but now I'm down to just metal. I know family life is first but when there is time, kids asleep or significant other takes over, how can I get that motivation to create? How do you if you have children? When I have time to myself I just want to lay around and relax or watch TV or play my 360. I feel I might have lost the musical creation nack :,(

We use cloth wipes -- facecloths.

We WERE running hot water every time we changed a diaper. Not ideal.

Things are slightly improved thanks to my brilliant idea of keeping wet washcloths in a mini crock-pot on the lowest setting.

We are totally cooking the cotton, though; even 'keep warm' = HOT.

What are those commercial wipe warmers like? Could I just toss in a bunch of wet facecloths?

Is there a better option out there that I'm not thinking of?

Can being sick cause you have contractions, or put you into labor? I'm coming down with a really nasty cold, and i'm not sure, but my head feels kinda hot. I've had this for a couple days now. My daughter is almost 6 months old and is eating mashed fruits and veggies. After about 3 days of this my period started. First one since before I conceived her... I found this website mymonthlycycles.com to help me calculate when I should be ovulating and I just don't get it. If I have an average cycle of 28 days, then I should ovulate 14 days later, but if my period lasts 14-16 days, then when would I be ovulating? If anyone could help me out here I would be so grateful. Now that I know I am definately fertile again, I may choose to be a little more careful about me and my husbands 'love making sessions' and keep track of all this period business.

See I'm 13 weeks.

period stopped and got the symptoms. ive been through morning sickness and everything lol.... but havent had ultrasound or anything yet.. but ive got a little bump..

I mean i really feel this instinctive maternal love for the baby.. but in another way it still does not feel real yet.. you know? For all I know I could have some wierd disease that stopped my period, ive gained weight for no reason etc etc lol

When did it first become real for you?

I think in a couple days when i got for first antenatal appointment and hear the heartbeat, It will finally sink in :)

Its wierd though cause im very much looking forward to meeting my first bubby

hi all, im 21 weeks pregnant on thursday day and i woke up this morning and i cant go to the toilet (#2) and i tryed to go but couldnt could i have hurt the baby? what can i do to fix this? also iv been feeling alot of thumps in my gut last night and at one stage it was very constant and quick and it felt like thumps i could feel some of them on the outside of my tummy could this be the baby? i had a scan last tuesday and everything was fine all was normal i havent felt much thumps today tho is that ok?

So I took a test this morning at 13 DPO after my temp shot up yet again to 98.6 (pre-O temp in the 97s, 1st part of luteal phase 98.0, 2nd part of luteal phase 98.1/.2) and I couldn't tell what was happening in the test line. The horizontal lines prevented me from getting a good read within the time frame, there seemed to be a faint line but I'm not sure if it was a faint line or an evaporation line. I plan on taking another test tomorrow morning, but I'd like to know how to tell the difference in case this happens again. HELP!
