How many women out there actually got false negatives from the serum test? Does it eventually turn into a positive, and at what time? Is it possible to not have detectable traces of HCG the whole pregnancy?

I'm worried now. I've got a negative blood result come back, but then someone says they know a friend of a friend who popped a baby with negative serum results too.

Most women start showing +ve results via a blood test about 10 days after conception.

Every one seems to know a friend of a friend who apparently has weird things happen to them during pregnancy but a negative blood test that was wrong was probably a misunderstanding about dates or a lab error.

It's practically impossible to get a completely negative result and still be pregnant, especially once your period is missed.

A level of hCG below 5 is negative. A level between 5 and 25 is inconclusive and they will usually test again 72 hours later to see what comes up.

Over 25 is deemed positive, and this is at about the 7 days post conception time.

When you consider by 3 weeks after conception hCG levels can be up to 400, 6 weeks about 7000 and by 16 weeks 250,000 if you are still getting negative results you can be pretty sure you aren't pregnant.

It would not be possible to go through a whole pregnancy and not have detectable hCG. Even at full term you've still got over 100,000 units.

If you're getting negative pregnancy tests and you're this late on your period, most likely you're not pregnant. Wait another week or so, and take another pregnancy test. If it's negative, go to your doctor and have him run a blood pregnancy test on you. A blood test is highly accurate and will let you know for sure if you are or aren't pregnant. Keep in mind that there are many other reasons why a woman might miss a period, besides pregnancy. Stress, illness, significant weight loss/gain, not ovulating - these are just a few of the reasons. Good luck and congrats. ♥

a blood test is THE most accurate pregnancy test out there. If you do not have hCG levels higher than 25, then you are not pregnant. Blood tests can give EXACT hCG counts. Your period could be late due to a number of things such as stress and diet, but if you got a neg. blood test, you are definitely not pregnant, unless you got pregnant sometime this week.

no...it will not show up negative the whole preg.

mine showed up negative for about 2 weeks after my period was due....i dont think it shows up negative much further than that...the hcg levels should be detectable DEF. by 8/9weeks
