My son is due in 5 days. This morning the father all of a sudden tells me that he doesn't think the first and middle names I have chosen go together very well. The middle name was JaMarcus. I agreed to change it but I can't think of new middle name for the baby. I need a new middle name for the baby quickly.

My father died in 03, and my mother was abusive to me as a child. My husbands family lives in another state, so she spends every day and night with me. She does play with other kids, but I am always there. (most of these play dates are at my home, and I end up babysitting for all the other mothers to go out!) I admitt, I don't want any one else watching her, because of all the bad things that people are doing now. Am I hurting her in the long run though, or will she be fine in pre-k?

My kids are 2 and 7. Usually we eat breakfast, have a snack eat lunch, then have after school snack, eat dinner and have a bed time snack. I know snacks are important to keep the kids enegized and full between meals but, I have a hard time choosing healthy snacks for my kids. I always have fresh fruit, Bannana's , grapes, oranges and apples. But my 7 year old always complains about the fruit. What are some alternatives to icecream, chips and cookies?

Ok my daughter is 2 1/2 yrs old. Most of the time she is an excellent eater. Sometimes... she get a mouthful of food (usually meat) and chews it til its practically liquid and then spits it back out on her plate! I am just curious if there are other mothers out there that have had their kid do this and what you did to get them to stop. She doesnt usually do this, is she just playing, maybe? She doesnt spit it at me or her daddy, thank goodness lmao

Please dont think im one of those mums who let their children run wild, im not, im just having a hard time getting my 2 year old daughter to listen to me and to do as she is told, how do i get her to listen to me? i dont want to smack so please dont suggest that, i also dont like screaming at kids, i do raise my voice and to a different tone but this doesnt work, the main problem really is we have a really expensive tv and she has the habit of switching it on and off turning the channels over and turning the volume up and down, i cant move it as its attached to its own stand so i cant put it out of her reach, i just dont want it broken.

Also my son, 8 months is starting to copy her.!

Please no nasty answers i generally need help!

Thanks ! xxx

My daughter is 6 1/2 months old. I used to be able to lay her on top of me until she fell asleep and then put her to bed. This is after she found out how to get out of being swaddled. She is always so active that she will constantly move until she can't fall asleep. Now naptime has almost become unbearable. Everything else goes undone because she takes three naps a day and plus putting her to bed at night, by the time I get her to sleep, I am so afraid to clean in fear I will wake her up. If she goes without a nap or I try the "crying it out thing" (and it doesn't work), she is too overtired and keeps me up all night. I just want to pull my hair out... what do I do?

I'm currently working on certification as a birth doula through DONA international. I've only had three clients so far, but love my job helping women have babies :)

I guess I'm wondering - what do you know about doulas? Not many people know much about them. Of course *I* know what a doula is LOL, but I'm just wondering what the perception is out there. Have you had one, or know someone who has? Would you ever consider having a doula at your birth? Why or why not? What would you expect if you did have a doula there?

I have never met a girl who was given punishment spankings. I guess that it is because fathers do most of the punishing, and don't want to spank their little princesses. When I was growing up, I was friends with a few boys who were spanked, but none of the girls were. Even when i talk to friends/coworkers who have kids now, some of them spank their sons, none spank daughters. Any females here who were spanked growing up, or any parents who spank their daughters? Please, no answers like "i'm sure girls are spanked", looking for facts, not guesses.

My 14 month old daughter recently stopped sleeping at night. I sleep trained her at an early age and she was able to fall asleep on her own in the crib but she no longer will do that either. I have tried to let her cry it out again but she has gone for an hour standing in her crib and screaming and crying so hard that she loses her voice and has snot everywhere. I know she is currently getting two of her 1 year molars. Could that have something to do with it? I tried Motrin and Orajel but she still won't sleep. I feel like I am doing something wrong but I can't let her cry longer than an hour!!! Has anyone else experienced this??? Any suggestions???

I have a son that turned 2 in may- lately he is driving me CRAZY!!! All he does is whine... I don't get it. If I ask him what he wants to drink he just cries and points from one thing to another, and then when you finally pour him something he throws a huge tantrum with tons more crying... and wants something else (which he doesn't want as soon as you wash the cup out and pour more) he is the same way with everything- eating which pj's to wear... I have a 5 yr old and she never acted like that- he seems to cry 18 out of the 24 hours... I play with him, take him outside, ect, but he just KEEPS CRYING... anyone else have an oversensitive child like this? If so what did you/are you doing to keep your sanity? thanks in advance

Please no jerky comments- he has what he needs, he doesn't need a new diaper, or whatever rude comments you can think of- you will be reported if you post and crap like that...

I understand trying to 'honor' them...but why not give a child it's OWN identity instead of giving him/her some crazy first or middle name like 'Mildrid' or something? They just get embarassed later in life and aren't ever proud of it.

I just found out that in Spain, there is a book full of baby names at the registry office so that when the parents go to register their child, the regristrar will check up in the book. If the name isnt there - the parents have to choose a different name. Which means no "Princess Tiamii" or "Apple", "Fifi Trixibell" "Moon uni"!! - All names like that are illegal. Do you think that this law should be brought to other parts of the world to avoid these kinds of names? Or should it be a parents descision to name their child what they want?
