I have never met a girl who was given punishment spankings. I guess that it is because fathers do most of the punishing, and don't want to spank their little princesses. When I was growing up, I was friends with a few boys who were spanked, but none of the girls were. Even when i talk to friends/coworkers who have kids now, some of them spank their sons, none spank daughters. Any females here who were spanked growing up, or any parents who spank their daughters? Please, no answers like "i'm sure girls are spanked", looking for facts, not guesses.

Both my sister and I were spanked by both my father and my mother, and I spank my daughter as well. Spanking isn't a one-size-fits-all method, but is tailored to each child and each parent. We don't use spanking as a first response in most situations; my husband and I use a verbal reprimand and if she doesn't respond, we give her a couple swats on the bottom. My daughter is pretty sensitive so she usually responds to the reprimands. I am usually the one who spanks her because I am home with her during the day but as she grows older my husband will do more of the spanking.
It is important to realize that there is a certain age for every child after which they should not be spanked, and that age generally comes earlier for girls than for boys. I wouldn't recommend spanking girls that are older than eight or nine.
At any age, spanking shouldn't be the only tool in a parent's discipline kit, but it is a tool that parents can apply to both genders, if they choose.

I have 4 sisters and no brothers. We were spanked as children by both of our parents. I have a friend who has a boy and a girl and she spanks both of them. I think she spanks the girl more often because she acts up more than her brother does. I also had friends growing up who were spanked. Where I live, I don't think that fathers do most of the punishing. I think mothers do. In the old days moms might say "wait until your father gets home" but in my house my mom didn't wait around for dad to come home and neither did my friends moms.

Spanking is a personal choice, so there's not really any "facts" involved. My parents believed in spanking, so its a FACT that I got spanked. I also believe in spanking (as a last resort) and both my son and my daughter have been spanked. That's a FACT too. If its facts you want, there ya go.
My father did most of the spanking, but my mom did too. I preferred for my mom to "spank" me. She didn't hit as hard. lol
You and your friends/co-workers must live a very sheltered life if you've never known any female that was spanked. And as for having friends who spank their sons but not their daughters..... that's really weird and a HUGE double standard. Poor boys. Why do the girls get special treament?

I was spanked by my parents. I have actually thanked them for it because just the fear of punishment kept me from doing the wrong thing. I was not abused, I do not have issues, and will spank my daughter if the situation is appropriate. I don't believe that spanking is the best form of discipline---to me, it's more about consistency. Don't let them get away with something and only punish them haf of the time.

I was spanked growing up as well as my 3 brothers.
I have 2 girls. A little swat on the bottom as young toddlers, but when I could reason with them I chose other methods such as time out and then grounding. Its as effective without physical pain. Believe me my kids have asked to be spanked instead grounding, that tells you a lot.

My mother spanked me and my two sisters and I know that all of my female cousins have been spanked as children. I have boys but I would not make a difference with a girl she would get spanked just the same as a boy would. I don't know if it is just my family but we were taught that girls and boys are equal and get the same treatment.

I was spanked only a few times. I have several female friends that were spanked as children.
I have 2 girls and one boy, all of whom have been spanked when it was called for.

I am female and I got my share of spankings growing up. My sisters (3) did as well. Both my daughters and my niece, all have had spankings.

I'm a female. I have 2 sisters and 1 brother. I remember getting spankings, but not very often, it was rare and only when I deserved it. My brother on the other hand, he got spankings more often as I remember it.
