Pregnancy & Parenting - 29 August 2007

My 1 month old son seems to get the hiccups quite a bit - probably twice a day, usually after feeding. I think it bothers me than it bothers him!! Is there anything i can do for it? He rarely brings up his feeds, and i use avent anti colic bottles and he has no trouble burping - as i said, i think it worries me more than him cos i know how uncomfortable they are - can i do anything to prevent them?

My baby is 3 weeks old. She really is a joy and is a good girl really, but over the last few days, she just cant settle in the late afternoon/early evening time, she can be awake for 4/5 hours. I shouldnt complain really as Im pretty sure it isnt colic as she doesnt really cry as such, she just fusses and just wont sleep even though I know shes tired! I rock her, walk her, bathe her, massage her, burp her. She nods off but then is up again 5 minutes later.
Did anyone else go through this and have any suggestions? and how long will this fussy phase last?

My baby after discovering that she has severe milk allergies, now has been diagnosed with acid reflux. She is taking meds but it doesn't seem to be helping. She is 4 months old and they haven't put her on cereal yet. I've read that this helps? She doesn't sleep well because I think the reflux is bothering her. I have tilted the head of her bed and it still doesn't seem to help. Anymore suggestions?

ok my two year old (she'll be three in dec.) has been potty trained since she febuary of this year. the only thing is she has to wear diapers at night cause shes a heavy sleeper. which is fine cause she'll grow out of that eventually. but all of a sudden starting last week she has been peeing in her pants two or three times a day. i don't know what its caused from? i just cant keep changing her panty's that many times a day she knows how to use the toilet and i've told her to let me know and i'll help her but it's like shes not paying attention or to busy to stop and go potty. i need some advice on how to get her into the routine again?? some times she even stands next to the toilet and just pees right there.l and i try not to get upset about it and i've been putting her in time out for it but its not working. i really need help with this she even peed when we were at one of her appointments it was kinda embarassing. i know shes only two but i dont know why she would go back!!! HELP!!!

At what age is it safe to give a baby finger foods and at what age do they usually start eating finger foods. My daughter is almost 8 months and is always wanting the food off of my plate. I have been giving her crackers but when can I start cutting up things for her to eat because she is getting bored with baby food. Also what is safe to feed her and at what age are they able to get the food into their mouth their selves.

My daughter is 18 months old and becoming very bratty. She's had testing and the results show she is ahead for her age. She is very smart. I think she may understand when something is wrong, but I feel like its too early to discipline her. I've done some yelling of "no" and some slapping on the wrist. She doesn't really react to it. I don't want to hurt her or have her associate me with abuse. I'm afraid that by the time she becomes two, she will be a terror.

I'm 37 1/2 weeks pregnant and just got back from the doctors. He said I am 3 cm and 60% effaced - woo hoo :) How much bleeding is common after an internal exam? I just went to the bathroom and it looked like I was on my period. It was red blood with brown chunky stuff (sorry) and quite a bit of it. Is this normal? Doc's office is now closed and just wanted some feedback from other mom's before I pack up the fam and go to the hospital. Also, I know women can walk around for weeks dilated to a 1 or a 2, but how bout a 3 and 60%? God I hope it's gonna be soon! Thanks!

Ok I am a bit confused. Do you try the day of ovulation to get pregant since this is when you are most fertile, or do you try the two days beforehand? I know some of you will say why not try all three days, but when is the best time to do the deed? Thanks!

I'm 4 mths pregnant and every time I go to the OB they can't hear the heartbeat they have to do an ultrasound to be able to tell that the hearbeat is normal. So far everything is normal and my uterus leans towards toward the back this time they told me that my placenta is in the way. Has anyone else had or heard of this? And everything is definantly ok right?

I took BC for about three years and when I stoped taking it I was told that it was normal for it to take up to a year sometimes a little more to concieve. Well I stopped about 3 years ago and I still have been unable to concieve. I also have the most irregular period ever. Sometimes I won't have one for 2-3 months and then other times I will have one for two months straight. I used to be able to predict it to the day, prior to taking the pill. Has anyone ese experienced this after stoping BC? It is possible that I have gone into early menopause? Could it indicate something else, like cysts? If it is cysts what can you do for/about them?

My 6yo DD is in 2nd grade and is really sensitive after a difficult 1st grade year. We have her going to counseling but our health care provider can only get her in every 3-4 weeks.

Yesterday was the first day of school and she hated it. She complained "too many bullies". One big girl shoved her in line. Today was no better, but the big girl came up behind her on the swings and scratched her back.

I'm telling her that some things can't change. Boys are not as quiet as girls, some kids will yell in line because they're excited and sometimes a boy just has to "shake his butt" (that one cracked me up). As for the big girl, I told my DD that I would speak to the teacher tomorrow morning. She laid hands on my daughter 2 days in a row, there better not be a third!

In the meantime my DD is begging me to move her out of the class and is miserable. I keep telling her it would be the same in other classes -- there's always at least one problem student. Any other advice??

And for the past two weeks she has stopped eating pretty much every thing, including her favs.Her doctor told me to to give her yogurt, but she doesn't eat that either. I have gotten her to eat scrambled eggs w/cheese,but even now is starting to not want that. I've tried all different finger foods. She'll eat ritz crackers, gold fish, cherrio's, but nothing of substance. Please give me some tips!

I really want to have an international adoption. The more I research about it though, the more expensive it sounds. 25,000 not including all travel fare! Wow! Don't get me wrong, I'm financially stable enough to raise a kid. It would never go without anything. I'm just wondering if there are any non-profit organizations of some sort that offer to help with this kind of situation. I preferably wish to adopt from an Asian country such as China, Japan, Korea, so forth. Can anyone recommend some good agencies there? Guatamala is also in our list though. Thank you!

I got a call this afternoon from my daughter's school saying that my daughters best friend passed away this morning and that the school is asking the parents to tell their children about this and there will be counslors at the school just in case the children need to talk tomorrow. The school told me they were not sure how the little boy died. I sat my daughter down and explained to her what had happend and let her cry and talk about the little boy. Just a little bit ago we were watching the news and a picture of the little boy was shown on the screen and my daughter got very excited but then the news anchor said that the boy was murdered by his stepfather..they gave up no warning that this story was coming on and we weren't able to change the channel before she heard it. She got very very upset again (understandly so), she keeps asking me why his dad killed her best friend. I don't know how to answer this, when I don't know the answer myself. Please help...

Me and my girlfriend have never had unprotected sex, this month after her last period we only had sex about 5 times at the most. My condoms have never broken on me, because I always check them afterwards. Then, two weeks before her period she started noticing spotting, she immediately freaked out thinkIing that she is pregnant, she has no other symptoms of pregnancy, just spotting. She has been spotting for about 5 days, and its been nothing heavy. Today, 10 days before her period, she took a pregnancy test, it was negative. Has anyone ever had the feeling in the "Private" area that u have just had rough sex? Please I don't have it rough sex and besides I haven't had sex in shhh.... 7 months but, u hear woman about "Gangbanging" LoL I'm fars from being that type of person!!!! I just didn't know how to explain the feeling and thats what the first thing that came to mind.

2. Lower back pain. I can't sit very long. As of Aug 21 my weight was 240lbs. Remember I'm carring twins. 2 wks ago the boys weighed in an estimated twin a 4lbs 6oz and twin b 4lbs 1oz.
I know I only have 6 wks left. Cuz carring twins full term is at 38 wks.
