I'm 37 1/2 weeks pregnant and just got back from the doctors. He said I am 3 cm and 60% effaced - woo hoo :) How much bleeding is common after an internal exam? I just went to the bathroom and it looked like I was on my period. It was red blood with brown chunky stuff (sorry) and quite a bit of it. Is this normal? Doc's office is now closed and just wanted some feedback from other mom's before I pack up the fam and go to the hospital. Also, I know women can walk around for weeks dilated to a 1 or a 2, but how bout a 3 and 60%? God I hope it's gonna be soon! Thanks!

Sounds pretty normal.
If the bleeding gets heavier call your delivery ward and speak to a nurse.
I'd say your bleeding because the doctor agrivated your cervix and possibly gave you a sweep.

Also keep walking being at 3 is very good!
So keep walking and hopfully you'll have a baby very soon!

Totally normal. Your cervix is softening up and very sensitive. I bled after every exam in my last trimester. The chunky stuff is the mucus plug. I was dilated to 2 and 100% effaced for 7 days before giving birth. My friend was at 3 for 2 weeks.

It's normal, I'd still call them and let them know though maybe in the morning when they re-open. I was 100% effaced, lost my plug and 4cm dilated for 3 weeks before I had my daughter..

that would mean that that is your "show" i had that at 2 cm dialated and then went into labour so all you can really do is relax and wait for the contractions if it gets any worse go to the hospital good luck your baby is almost here oh and my sister had it aswell only a week ago and she had her baby 5 days ago

you can always call labor and delivery and explain the situation to them, they will either reassure you or have you come in. It is better to call them first that way you dont pack up your whole family and head out just for them to tell you that everything is fine. Best of luck :)
