I'm 4 mths pregnant and every time I go to the OB they can't hear the heartbeat they have to do an ultrasound to be able to tell that the hearbeat is normal. So far everything is normal and my uterus leans towards toward the back this time they told me that my placenta is in the way. Has anyone else had or heard of this? And everything is definantly ok right?

I'm in the same boat. In addition to your tilted uterus, your (our) situation is called an anterior placenta (anterior = front) and it shouldn't cause problems now that they know it's there. If you need a C-section they'll have to cut through it, but it only takes a few moments to do the whole thing. Also there may be a chance of the placenta being previa (covering the cervix), but in most cases it pushes upward as the baby grows and so shouldn't be a real concern by the time you deliver.

I've searched all over but haven't been able to find statistics on how common this is, but my doctor said 'very' and didn't seem concerned. He's been in practice 30 years so I trust his judgment.

The part that bums me out is that I can barely feel the baby moving at 24 weeks.

Good luck!

I guess the placenta is on the side of your uterus where your tummy is, so that's what they mean it's in the way. As long as the placenta is not on your cervix, then it's fine. As your uterus gets bigger it will pull the placenta to the top of your uterus and it will be easier to hear the hearbeat.

That is OK :) It just means the placenta is attached at teh front of your uterus. Its nto the most common place but nothing the matter when ti does. The problem is when it attaches over or partially over your cervix.
