Pregnancy & Parenting - 6 August 2007

I was at walmart when these little kids were horsing around and running and the mother was oblivious. Anyway one of the boys(about 8) fell against my cart and it hit my belly. It really hurt, I wanted to yell at them but I very carefully asked him to settle down. His mom finally noticed the chld talking to me and asked what was going on. So I told her, and she had her son say he was sorry. I then told her I was expecting(as I was not showing) and then after that she seemed more concerned. After that the kids started up again. Some children are awful. Whats up with that? What would you have done in this situation?

My wife and I have been trying to have a baby for about 5 years now and she has had 4 miscarriages. It has made us become distant and our relationship has become very strained. We don't have the fun we used to...and since the last time she miscarried we have hardly had one decent conversation. I almost don't want her to get pregnant now so she doesn't get hurt again and we are pushed to the brink of divorce. Is this normal...to want to give up? Is there any way we can get back to normal? I know a baby would do the trick but I have a gut feeling that that will never happen. We are both 35 btw. Thanks for anyone who helps.

I have a 14 month old girl who doesnt like sleeping at night.
She goes to bed at 6.30, If we keep her up later then we have a devil on our hands, Then she wakes up at 10.00pm for anther bottle, then at 11.30 for a bum change, 12.30 just for fun, takes hour to get her to sleep, then at 2.00am for anther bottle then If Im really LUCKY which I havent been later shell sleep until 5.00, I have tryed given her water instead of a bottle and she just crys I have tryed leaving her for a while to cry and well that doesnt stop, I cant handle getting up nearly every hour my body and mind are just well you get the picture.!! If anyone knows anything please let me know!

OR......he had nose running, BUT no fever, & pooing or pee is fine, but he cough and crying on and off all day..my family does live with me is sick just like little bad cold but it already house germ....i call my ped about it they said it normal for the baby and wait his appt doc come..his doc appt is aug 28...too long to wait to check him!! what can i do ?? ...

im 36 wks pregnant and today at walmart i decided to check my blood pressure on the little thing you stick your arm in.
well it says the normal is up to 120 and higher than that is not. well mine said 144...and im REALLY swollen my feet hurt to walk in the mornings i was just wondering what it meant?! does the blood pressure mean anything?

i know that it is recommended to wait about 3 months after a miscarriage to try to concieve. im not trying..
i miscarried a few weeks ago.
i just want to know HONESTLY how soon after a miscarriage a woman can get pregnant again? i have looked endlessly on the net for the answer to this question, i keep reading "recommendations".
i dont need that.
i want to know how soon a woman is fertile and is eligable to become pregnant, after a miscarriage?
i was not pregnant for long. only a week or so and i lost it. so i didnt carry it very far at all, to speak of. we arent trying, but we arent NOT trying. its in God's hands. im just curious. so i dont want to hear any of that "wait X months" stuff, PLEASE. im not replacing the baby i lost, we're just trying to find out if i could be right now or not.. very confusing time being had by all!

recently my 2yo had a cold and stuffy nose, so i had to put a thin cushion underneath his head and neck (some elevation to help ease the stuffy nose) he seemed ok with it, n i wonder when we should intro. toddler/junior pillow to him?

That is to say, do you think people named something particular..have at least one single re-occuring trait among them? Even shortened versions of the same name people share a common trait I have found.

For instance, of all the "Mandy"s I have known, they are self absorbed and self gradifying people. "Amanda's" on the other hand, are exceptionally sweet and hard working students.
Most Mike's I know are jerks, But Michael's are giving. Jeff's are brilliant and disorganized, and never met a man who wanted anyone to call him Jeffery.

My mother still has the bassinet that she used with us, that her mother used with her, and that her mother used with her. The thing is like 100 years old. I mentioned that I might not want to use it with my child, because I've heard some horror stories about old furniture and safety hazards and such, and she got SO OFFENDED and went off on how "it was good enough for her" and now I can't talk to her without her blowing up about something.

Am I wrong about this? Would the bassinet be fine? It's not like it's in terrific shape, it's been in storage for almost 20 years.

If, indeed, it would be dangerous, how can I explain to her that the safety of my child is more important to me than appeasing the family tradition?

I've even offered just to have the bassinet in the room, for decoration. She's just so offended, she acts like I think I'm better than her or something, when I just want to watch out for the safety of my not-yet-born child.

Help?

okay so i have heard 2 storys about getting pregnant after you have been on birth control. First is after you get off birth control it can take months before you are able to get pregnant. The other is your most fertile after you get off birth control. which of these would be true? my husband is overseas right now due to be home in june, we are planning to try for our 3rd child. right now i am on bc to regulate my periods, but i would like to know the truth to these storys so i can choose to stick with the bc or end it so i have the best chance of getting pregnant when he comes home. please let me know anything you may know about this. My fiance, of 3 years and I found out today that i'm 5 weeks pregnant.
We're extremely excited.
Yes, we're financially ready.
No, this wasn't exactly planned.

We DO NOT want to rush into getting married just because we're having a child BUT we DO plan on getting married before the child goes to school (most likely a year or 2 before).
* My mom and dad got married about a year before i headed off to preschool.

My side of the family, meaning grandparents, are not too fond of children without marriage and i understand.

Any advice on when/how to break the news?
(my mom is the only one who knows, she's soo happy!)

Friday morning I woke up and I seemed to have my period, it was light. I got some cramping as though I would have in my period. It went from light to heavy back to light. I got my period at about the time I would get it normally but I heard implantation bleeding did the same. How long does implantation bleeding last? Me it was from Friday (Aug.3rd.) to yesterday evening (Aug.6th.). I had some clotting and whatnot. What does it sound like?

lol @ my Q. Okay. I went of my bc pills in July. Af arrived July 19th and lasted about 5 days. Since then the hubby and I have been bd'ing every other night or so. ;] According to these things online my ovulation day was on Aug. 1st. We bd'ed the night before and a day or two after. However, I 'm not sure if I ovulated that day or a few days earlier. Earlier that week I had ovulation cramps/twinges so I'm near positive I have already ovulated. I couldn't keep track of my cm because of all the bd'ing -haha So the only thing I have to go by is the ovulation twinges. Anyway, so many women are different when it comes to signs and/or symptoms. So...so far I feel like I am hungry more often already, have to pee more often than usual and I pee frequently even if it's only the smallest amount. My nipples are real sensitive. They used to be before but never this long, it's been a week. I know I won't know for sure until I take a hpt but I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences
