okay so i have heard 2 storys about getting pregnant after you have been on birth control. First is after you get off birth control it can take months before you are able to get pregnant. The other is your most fertile after you get off birth control. which of these would be true? my husband is overseas right now due to be home in june, we are planning to try for our 3rd child. right now i am on bc to regulate my periods, but i would like to know the truth to these storys so i can choose to stick with the bc or end it so i have the best chance of getting pregnant when he comes home. please let me know anything you may know about this. Thanks for your time!

if you have been on the pill for years, it may take some time to get back to normal. Give a full cycle off the pill before you ttc. The pill can suppress ovulation in some women, but we all process the hormone differently.

From what I understand you are not most fertile after you get off birth control. I've been off for a year and i havent been able to get pregnant. Try doing the fertility test so you can find out when your most fertile and if you still cant get pregnant talk to your doctor. I had a friend who tried for 3 years and she finally went on fertility drugs and eventually got pregnant. Everybody is different! Good luck..

well i have also heard that you are more likely to get pregnant right after getting off it but you are more likely to have a miscarriage but here is what i can tell you for sure. i got off of birth control the next month we didn't get pregnant the following month we did then i lost the baby at 9 weeks. now i think the timing was off for it to be caused by the pill bc if i am right it is usually an early miscarriage. i didn't even know about that risk until after. so my advice to you would be to get of the pill soon just in case and start charting your basal body temperature. it will help you be able to clue in to when you are ovulating even with irregular periods. good luck!

Well its kinda hard to pregnant if u are on birth control it depends on what kind of birth control u are on like the pills or the ring or the patch. if u are on the pills stop like a month before and with the ring or the patch you csn stop like a week or so before.and i'm sure u already know this but have sex during the time u are ovulating.Good luck!
