That is to say, do you think people named something particular..have at least one single re-occuring trait among them? Even shortened versions of the same name people share a common trait I have found.

For instance, of all the "Mandy"s I have known, they are self absorbed and self gradifying people. "Amanda's" on the other hand, are exceptionally sweet and hard working students.
Most Mike's I know are jerks, But Michael's are giving. Jeff's are brilliant and disorganized, and never met a man who wanted anyone to call him Jeffery.

What can you tell me about the "Brian"s you know?

Most of the Brian's I've known have been very nice and kind people. It's a positive name for me.

Most Bryan's I know are cute athletic smart kids. I love the name Bryan and I want to name my baby boy that!

But giving the nickname Bry is a bad idea because people who are called Bry are seemly gothic and mean and mad at everything.

The Brian that we know is extremly laid back, easy going. He is smart w/ computers and loves his computer games. He takes his responsibilities seriously and is a wonderful father. Um yeah...that's all I can think of right now...

i don't believe this at all. I have known many poeople wiht the same name, some bad some good. It may be that since you knew one person wiht a name and they acted poorly, you may be approaching others with the same name with a prejudice.
