it could be that when you lay on your back, the baby is hitting a nerve. the baby does move a lot and will hit many nerve's during that time. Also you will get numerous cramps as your body stretches and grows with the baby.
if they are severe, and you dont feel "right", talk to your doctor or midwife

I am 37 weeks and i had the same issue at 20 weeks my doctor told me that if i had any discomfort when i layed on my back that should lay on my side. by atleast 30 weeks you should only sleep on your side otherwise you will be putting your baby at risk!

its prolly just the baby moving around and stretching they can make things very uncomfortable sometimes! or you may be getting braxton hicks contractions, i think i ts too early for that but every woman is different. if its too uncomfortable call your doc and let them know. but im sure its nothing.

your uterus contracts all through pregnancy, but as you grow you feel it more. They are called braxton hicks, and they are normal. They help the uterus prepare for real labor contractions.

it's just the weight of the baby on your back.
