Pregnancy & Parenting - 5 December 2006

My six year old son came home yesterday and told me that a black boy in his class has been being really mean to him. I have seen this boy and he is much larger than my son. This boy has been calling my little boy a "white cracker" and has told him that he would hurt him. I have tried to teach my son to be color blind, but clearly this little boys parents have not taught him the same. What should I do?

i was wondering after the baby comes out and the placenta, will i start bleeding straight away like instantly?
and if so what is the procedure? will i get taken to have a shower and cleaned up, or what? weird question but its one that is bugging me, thanks

I am caucasian and when I have told some people that I would like to name my son Julius, they respond I can't because it is a name for African Americans. Is this true? Does society stereotype what name you can place based on race? Are there implications for doing so? I think this is ridicious, but I thought I better check before I send my son out into the world.

My daughter will be 2 years old next month. During the summer i had to fight with her just to get her out of the water, but now she attacks me when i try to give her a bath. Her fear seems to worsen when i try to wash her hair.

This morning at the doc they had a mix up and gave me a 3 hour glucose test instead of the one hour that i needed. I didnt care then, didnt feel sick at all, but 11 hours later I am feeling sick(to the point i stuck next to toilet, but didnt throw up), and really adrenalin rushed at times. In the past 3 hours I have started having contractions, some like labor and some little ole braxton hicks(i've had hicks for a while). I am 27 weeks and have had a history of past early labor. I have called my doc, but he is super busy, so I probably wont hear from him for another couple of hours. I dont want to go to the hospital cause I live a little far, and my hubby wont be avail for 30 min at soonest. My Q is what are the side effects of the 3 hour test, and when should they be felt? Does anyone know the actual perscription name of the common 3 hour test drink?
More info:baby is moving fine when i have hicks, but stops when I have hard ones. that does concern me, Baby is moving now.

My six month old son looks as if he is about to cut his first teeth. over the weekend, he became really fussy and wouldn't eat from a bottle (only my breasts). He's been going to daycare for the past 4months, and has never had a problem taking a bottle from me or anyone else. Over the hpast few days at day care, his teachers have called me because he won't eat. At home...he just wants to nurse all evening and all night...otherwise he's really, incredibley fussy! Is this because he's teething? Will it last. I really need him to take the bottle because of my work schedule? Does anyone have suggestions?
