Because girls are more emotionally complex, and they have a tendency to become really catty. Speaking as a girl currently being raised, I'd say that I'm much harder to raise than my male peers, because the biggest struggle for their parents is things like they won't do their homework, or they're getting involved with the wrong people. For girls, we have those problems, and more, because we tend to throw each other under the bus, so it's up to the parents to both prevent their daughters from doing the throwing, and comfort them when they are thrown.
Boys, who tend to be more emotionally secure then girls, don't need as much parental guidence in the social and emotional departments. However, they're harder when it comes to things like chores, responsibilities, and schoolwork.
I speak as a teenage girl with an ADHD brother, three male cousins, and a heard of very difficult friends.

I have 2 girls ages 7 and 3. They have showed me how stubborn and hard headed I was at that age. I apoligize to my Mom everyday...because I now know what she really went through raising me. She always told me that everything I do I will get it back in double and here I am with 2 beautiful but very honory little girls...lol

the man is the boss of the home and the girl can control her father (the boss) more than the boy can. So the girl has greater power to cause marital conflict. This makes it hard to raise them.
It is what makes mother's hair grey too soon.

Because when boys get pissed off they just deck each other, or cuss and go do something really physical to burn off the anger. When a girl gets pissed, they don't usually go fight it out, maybe just verbally, and they hurt each others feelings, so it begins to become a group thing, cause the friends feel sorry for the one being dissed.Just my opinion. So the older they get, the more you hear about cliques, and then they get more emotional, so you have to deal with that too!

This has not been my experience. Girls require so much more attention, and my girls like the frills and fancies of being female. My boys, I can give them an empty box and they will entertain themselves for hours. My girls get bored after five minutes and need something else to do.

Each experience is different.

In my view only the extroverted girls are harder to raise.
They (extroverts) need constant companionship, communication, going out, participating in every schoold and social event.

my 8 yr oldd daughter is a lot easier to raise than my 10 month old boy. my son is soooooo needy and demanding. When my daughter was his age, she was very easy going...so right now, I would say my son is a lot harder to raise than my daughter!!! but of course, I love them both beyond words,

why do you say that?? I would have to disagree...

Now if you asked, "Why are girls more expensive to raise than boys?" Then that's a different story.

The emotions the damned emotions. Boys are taught to stuff them in but girls pour them all over the place.
