Yes you will bleed after delivering your placenta. It's like a period, only heavier. You probably won't be able to take a shower straight away, but will probably be able to have one the same day. You might want to take that time after birth to bond with your baby. You may need to be getting some I.V. medication after you give birth like pitocin to contract your uterus, so a shower would need to wait.

Yes, you will be bleeding, like a heavy period, but they will clean you up and provide you with sanitary napkins. Believe me you won't feel like taking a shower right away and you will probably want some help to get up to use the toilet the first few times after childbirth, but you should be able to get up and shower within a few hours, provided you don't have a c-section.
Right after I gave birth to my 2 boys, I ended up getting shakes (it's a perfectly normal occurence) and the nursing staff is prepared with warmed blankets. The only women who look perfect for family and visitors after giving birth are on TV. Don't worry about looking a mess, everyone understands.

You will start bleeding during labor & continue for 3 to 6 weeks postpardum. They will hand you the baby, possibly transfer you to a recovery room and when you want to you can shower, but they usually ask you to wait 2 to 3 hours your legs become weak after labor especally if you had a epidural you need asistance just to get up and help walking the first few times or you fall on your butt, you really wont care if you are gross, you will be so happy to see your baby

Yes, it'll be the biggest mess you have ever seen. You will already be laying on a waterproof disposable pad. Don't worry, though, your nurse will help get a regular (but HUGE) pad down there before you even get up off the bed. You will get to take a shower as soon as you are able to stand without losing your balance, and the nurse will help you with everything if you need it. It's their job, and they are very kind and caring about it, and they don't make you feel gross.

yes, Whether you give birth vaginally or by c-section, you can expect to have some vaginal discharge, called lochia, after you have your baby. For the first few days the lochia will be bright red and look like a heavy menstrual period, consisting largely of blood and sloughed-off tissue from the lining of your uterus. It may come out intermittently in small gushes or flow more evenly. If you've been lying down for a while and blood has collected in your vagina, you may see some small clots when you get up.
If everything proceeds normally, you'll have a bit less discharge each day, and by two to four days after you've given birth, it'll be more watery and pinkish in color. By about ten days after the birth, you should have only a small amount of white or yellow-white discharge, mostly composed of white blood cells and cells from the lining of the uterus. This may continue for a few days or up to several weeks.

honestly I didn't even notice if I was bleeding right away. I was thinking about my son too much to even think about it... I didn't have a shower right away though, I was numb from my epidural so I couldn't really... I think they just cleaned me, and gave me some underwear and a pad. But if you really want a shower right away, as long as you are not numb, they should let you... but really you probably wont even notice! Good Luck!

yes, you'll have heavy bloody discharge for 4-6 weeks following birth. It's called lochia and is completely normal. It will start very heavy and get lighter in flow and color as time goes on, til it's gone.
and unless you have complications, they should absolutely let you shower. probably not immediately afterward, but within a few hours. and you won't care. you'll be so busy bonding with your baby, you won't even notice that you feel gross. :)

Yeah, it's pretty much instant. You can take a shower as soon as you want to, at least I did. The bleeding part is pretty annoying and it'll last about 4 weeks. Not fun!

~You'll have a period for awhile after birth, treat it as just that. You would clean yourself as you normally would. I took a shower the next day at the hospital.~
