You can't hear the baby's heart beat until you are at least twenty weeks along, unless you have one of the ones the doctors use. I bought one and it was okay not he greatest. You really have to be still and in a completely quiet room or you won't be able to hear anything. They pick up every sound from your intestines to your heartbeat. If you want to spend the money on something I would look into a better brand or a better model. I have one and bought it for my first pregnancy and haven't even use it with this pregnancy. I just use my stethoscope. Good Luck and I hope this helps you in your decision.

I Bought a used bebe sounds monitor off of ebay, because everyone was giving it a bad rap. At first, I couldn't hear anything, but after 20 weeks, I started to hear the baby's heart. I would wait until it was time to go to bed, so it was nice and quite and I listened to my baby's heart until I feel asleep.

Hated mine!!! I really thought it was a huge waste of money. I could hear my heart beat more than the babies and the sound for the price is very bad! I prefer to rent a doppler from the OBs office for about $100 for the pregnancy.

The monitor never worked for us and our baby had a super stong heart beat. I think it was all crap. I took it back. I tired it from 20wks to about 35wks. Never worked, and i am super skinny, no fat to go through... Sorry.
It's gotta work for some people though or it wouldnt be on sale still.
Buy it, try it and take it back if it doesnt work. I tried target, and they had no problems taking it back open, just watch the return dates.

Don't buy one because you really don't know if you'll like it or not...But in case you do decide to buy, ask them if they'll refund your money if your not satisfied...
When I wanted to buy, it was too early to listen to the baby's heartbeat... Now, I'm pretty far along (20 wks) and I can feel it with my hands most of the time when it's really strong...
I suggest that it's better to rent one!
