I saw a child fall out of a shopping cart seat. As I was turning down an isle, a mother was reaching for something on a shelf and her 3 year old stood up in the seat and fell over the side of the cart. It was horrible! Luckily, the child wasn't seriouly hurt. The mother was worse off than the child. She kept crying and saying, "I only turned away for 2 seconds." I felt so bad for her. Since this incident, I've noticed in stores how often children stand up in shopping cart seats. I want to say something, but I don't want to offend anyone. I'm not a parent myself so I don't know what's appropriate to say. I saw a squirmy child the other day and the mother wasn't doing anything. As I passed I said to the boy, "Sit down, you don't want to get hurt." The mother shot me a dirty look. I felt like I was following them around the store waiting to catch him if he fell. He kept standing up and the mother did nothing. What should I do? I don't want to be rude. Should I really do nothing?

My friend has 4 kids and her 3rd one was born autistic. Her newest one is only 2months old and she refuses to get him any of his shots because she is convinced one of the shots caused the autism of her 3rd born. My personal opinion is that it is rediculous to not get his shots, but need more info to give her to convince her. Doesn't he need them to start school when he's older?

I'll use yesterday as an example. My baby who is almost 13 weeks (and breastfed) did not cry yesterday until 6pm. She goes from happy baby to crying until she turns red in the face all in a split second. Is this colic? The way she's crying you would think that she's in pain, but all of a sudden she stops, then starts again. Do colic babies cry like this? I've tried gripe water, does not help one bit. I will try Ovol after the next feeding (in about half hour).

Lately, my 5-year old child has been waking up between 10pm-11pm. When my child wakes up, he is not there--what I mean by that is he's up, eyes open, and can walk around, but his mind is still asleep. You can't carry on a conversation with him, you can ask him to do things, but he is very slow and sluggish to respond.

Some of the things he's done:
- We'll find him standing around in a room, just staring at the wall.
- We've found him standing in the closet of my other child's room. (three doors between his door and their closet!)
- He'll wake up crying and tossing and turning in bed. He needs to go to the bathroom if that is the case, but we have to tell him everything he needs to do to do that. (flush, wash, pull up your pants, etc.)
- We found him up brushing his teeth after he had been in bed for 3 hours. (He had already brushed his teeth that night)

In the morning, when we ask him about what happened last night, he has no memory about it. This is stressful! Help!

My friend is having a baby boy in December and is stuck for names. She loves traditional names and even biblical names. she isn't into trendy new names. (She likes things like Isaiah but there is already one in the family.) Any help would be appreciated.

What are the symptoms of pregnancy other than morning sickness before your period is due?

Is it just me or are there way too many nuts on here asking us if they are pregnant. What happened to the good old days, when you went to the drug store and bought a test and then went to the doctor. I mean how long does one actually wait with all of these "symptoms" before seeking actual mediacl attention?!

I had a lot of discharge for the past week (but only a little more than normal). Now all of a sudden it has stopped for the past 4 days and I was completely dry. Then today I had a very tiny bit of discharge. I walked all day friday(shopping) and had sex on saturday which I really haven't wanted to do much of. I'm 37 weeks, what do you think is going on?? It's my first pregnancy so I don't really know what to expect.

My son will be born in January. His name is going to be Richard but we will call him Ricky. I need a good middle name for him. I was gonna go with Gavin, but thats my doctor's name and it's kinda weird to name him after my doctor. I thought of Chase, but that doesn't really flow. I'll spare you the spelling of his last name, but it sounds like Oh-pell-yan. Any suggestions?

O.k. I know a lot of you are going to read this and think how dare me for going back to work. Anyways........I was off for my 6 week maternity leave and I had my baby on a good schedule as far as, she would sleep for 2 or 3 hours, wake up to feed and I would change her diaper and play w/her for an hour, then she would fall asleep for 2 or 3 hours. We did this all day and all night. Now that I have started work this week, she is going to grandma's house in the morning from 8:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. It is difficult for grandma to get her to nap. She takes really short naps for like 15 or 20 minutes a couple times a day and that's it. Well, when I get her home, she falls asleep at like 6p.m and doesn't wake up until 11p.m. then i feed her, change her, play w/her, and she falls back asleep for another 4 or 5 hours. Then I have to drag her off to grandma's all over again. She is eating great, using the bathroom great, and she is not that fussy. Is this normal?

My 8 year old daughter has ADHD. She is a wonderful happy child, but sturggles in school because she is unable to focus and retain information. I'm thinking of trying medication. I have always been against it, but I don't want her to fall behind in school anymore and I don't want her to have other social issues. Should I try it?

My daughter will start day care the same day I go back to work from maternity leave. I know her getting sick a lot there is inevitable, but any tips for avoiding it the first few weeks? We'll both be going through a big adjustment and I have visions of us both being sick and miserable through it all!
