I'll use yesterday as an example. My baby who is almost 13 weeks (and breastfed) did not cry yesterday until 6pm. She goes from happy baby to crying until she turns red in the face all in a split second. Is this colic? The way she's crying you would think that she's in pain, but all of a sudden she stops, then starts again. Do colic babies cry like this? I've tried gripe water, does not help one bit. I will try Ovol after the next feeding (in about half hour).

My son was extremely colic. I've never heard of gripe water or Ovol. What my father told me to do is hold your baby on your arm on their stomach, with their head at your elbow. it relieves something. Also what was a miracle worker for me was massaging his feet. The gentle pressure was calming. Als, it seems mean, but now I see why he loved it so much, we hung him upside down. he would be WAILING and my father would take him and hold him by his ankles and hang him upside down and that would be it. it worked like a light switch. I see why it worked now though. He loved to do daredevil things. he gets real bored doing normal things. A little hint that your little one is like that, did he/she stare at something for long periods of time when they were a couple weeks old as if anilyzing it? He's extemely smart for his age and gets bored quickly, seeing things upside down turned a new prospective to things.

First off colic just means "we don't know why your baby is crying"! My daughter was diagnosed with colic by three peds doctors. She cried for 3 hours straight then fed then slept for 1 hour then cried for 3 hours straight then ... well you get the idea. This went on for three months! All the docs said she's just colicy and will grow out of it. Well the fourth month came and still she kept crying 3 of 4 hours 24 hours a day. We finally tried Nutramigen® formula and then after just the first feeding she slept for 4 hours and never, never cried like that again!!!! It turns out that she couldn't digest the proteins in regular milk and that gave her cramps/knots in her tummy. Nutramigen's ® proteins are broken down (or "contains extensively hydrolyzed protein") already so she didn't have too. It was liquid gold for us! Your baby may or may not benefit from this but try it and remember if she is crying then something is wrong!
Gripe water used to work back in the day only because the alcohol content. Now it doesn't. It does help with gas in the tummy like gasex or tums type drugs.

Colic is whilst theres air trapped interior the babys physique which needs to be expelled from the two end! what i do is that if i'm mendacity down is to hold my infant in a sitting place on my chest and bend him over so his head touches his feet that usually works straight away away.

It's probably pinned gas. It's not colic. Colic babies are in constant pain all the time.
Make sure you burp her good. And give her a massage afterwards..that may help.

At night is usually when the colic kicks in. They have gas relief drops if it is gas. when you burp your baby lay her on her tummy on your leg and bounce her while burping. Advent makes great bottles for colic!
