Yes. THere is not a whole lot they can do at this point. You can get prenatal vitamens over the counter. But the most they could do right now is verify the pregnancy with a urine or blood test. Even they can't hear the heartbeat until I believe at least 8 weeks...

I went to the Dr. to confirm my pregnancy as soon as I found out at home. Then I went back about about 2 weeks later. I was never told that I had to be 10-12 weeks pregnant. Usually they want to see you during the first trimestar because that's the most crucial time for a miscarriage. Plus that's when they start you on your prenatal vitamins to. If you haven't confirmed your pregnancy with the Dr. I would make an appointment for that and then go from there. If you have confirmed it with a blood test, I would call a few other Dr.'s and see what they say.

It's very common. Some doctor's are just cold and not very personable. My doctor always sees me right away, including for my pregnancy ( was seen 3 times before my 12 weeks). But that is her choice. The common schedule for OB begins around 12 weeks. In the mean time, get some books for eating and exercising habits. Also, make sure you start a pernatal vitamin. Good Luck!

I couldn't get into the doctor's office until I was 10 weeks. So I'm not sure. Some woman I know go earlier. I have a friend who had an ultrasound at 6 weeks.

It is common, but not always the case. My ob saw me at 6 weeks with my last pregnancy. I got an ultrasound done early on and found out that the baby had a heartbeat. If it's important to you, find another doctor!

I see is very common in the states...but down here (southamerica) is very uncommon...a doctor will see you as soon as he has an opening so that the risk of mc of the 1st trimester is controlled by taking the necessary precautions and giving you all the info you need since the beggining of pg. Maybe is a cultural issue...or the way insurance companies work.

Very common. Alot of doctors don't see patients before that because of the risk of miscarriage.
Mine saw me at 9 weeks I think. It was torture waiting that long. I did have to go in and fill out my paperwork ahead of time but I bet a lot of docs just do that at the first appt.

Yes, it is. My Dr. wouldn't see me until 10 weeks also. They generally like to wait until you have missed 2 periods in case of a miscarriage. And if they do a Vaginal ultrasound you can see the baby's heartbeat! Congratulations by the way!

Yes, same thing happened to me. I knew I was pregnant at 5 weeks but they would not schedule an appointment until I was 8 weeks or farther.
