Pregnancy & Parenting - 4 September 2006

I'm 18 weeks along in my pregnancy. And so far I have lost 10 lbs. I eat all the time. And I haven't had alot of morning sickness. My Dr. says its not that big of a deal. But my husband is sationed in germany so I am seeing a german Dr. And my OB in the states is worried anytime i loose weight, esp that much. Any thoughts?

Whether they are contemplating abortion, or are just afraid their birth control may have failed, other people get self-righteous. Yes, there is always abstinence. At the same time, humans have a sex drive. At the same time, birth control is not always preventative. At the same time, we need to get off our high horses, stop being hypocrites and have a little compassion for other people, instead of trying to feel superior in comparison.

well, i had all my symptoms everything was going fine until 4 days ago i woke up with cramping right by my uterus, and then i started spotting, brown spotting and one light pink spot and then all my symptoms have disappeared since, i didnt go to the doctor because my sister went in for the same thing n they told her thay couldnt do anything about, but i really hope i didnt miscarry, i still crave foods and still get sick from certain smells, but my stomach doesnt feel as bloated anymore, has anyone else have this?

My period doesn't start for a few more days but i need to know now!
Also, i dont show the normal symptoms.. but some girls never do. My stomach is huge and i heard when you are pregnant it is a lower than your stomach, and it's just my stomach. but i dont know.. it keeps getting bigger and bigger!

I am now 39 and my husband is 52, we have 2 gorgeous boys (11 & 14) but always wanted 4 but a failed business meant I had to go back to being the breadwinner 10 years ago. Things are reasonable now financially and I am about to finish a uni degree and start a new career but I know this is my last chance if I want another baby and I am so worried I will regret not having another one while I still can. The 'sensible' thing would be to just be happy with what I have but my heart hurts when I think about another one, what would you do?

I used to wet the bed as a child until age 9. I went to the doctor and the diagnosis was my bladder was not mature. So the remedy was diapers, I wore cloth as an infant but back then pull ups were not available, but disposable diapers were. So when the decision was made, i was put in disposable diapers until age 9. We didnt make a big deal out of it, it was a solution a problem. Now days all I ever read is OMG dont put him back in diapers use pull ups or goodnites. People please. Pull ups and good nites are diapers. The just dont get put on with tape tabs. The absorb pee, just like a diaper, they are made with the same material, just like a diaper. THEY ARE DIAPERS. So what if a 4 or 5 year old is still in diapers, who cares. Society has made wearing diaper such a bad thing. Its plastic under wear. If I had to I would wear a diaper every day. Since people do make a big deal of diapers, i just might wear diaper just because i can and want to. Its a diaper not the plauge.

ok,my daughter is gonna be 10 next month,she is allready going through puberty - the period,but everything else is well...grown up. im not sure if she's just totally emotional due to her changing or if there is something just not right with her. basically if she is told to clean her room she will cry,if she is told to turn off her tv she will cry,if told to go in the shower she will cry....like everything is an issue, everything is unfair and all me and my husband do is end up yelling at her ( wich makes her cry more) we try to just ask ,we give several verbal promps to do what she is geing asked but the end result is always the same, she ends up crying and giving excuses of why she didnt do it, and she says she just can't help crying.Im so FRUSTRATED.Is she just spoiled? she seems to be irrational all the time, EVERYTHING is completly blown out of proportion with her...help?

i drink a lot of caffine every day, i cant live with out it because i have high school, college (dual enrolment), church work (jr leader) part time job (wendys), 2 school clubs, 2 church clubs ( i am a leader in both church clubs) also i am involved with 4-H, and do as many community service projects as i can. so i need to stay awake and i get like 4 hours of sleep a night. also my dad got some caffine pills for when e has to drive at night and some times i take one or two to keep me going. is this bad? what do i need to do if it is?

If you have stopped taking the pill and are now awaiting your first cycle (from being on the pill) period and it doesnt come for...lets say 2mths, can you still conceive in that time? What does it mean when you don't have a period for a while, do you still ovulate?? The hubby and I are trying to conceive, and I am off the pill but haven't had my period yet but the preg tests say neg.

I was recently telling my mom that I miss seeing my daughter smile in her sleep like she did when she was newborn -she is now 7 mos & only does it sometimes
My mom said that when I was a baby her Grandmother & her old gal pals told my mom that when a baby smiles in their sleep its called "THE HIVEY " or that they are "HIVEY" in their sleep - What does HIVEY mean ?? Does anyone know ?? Or is this just some old wives- tale thingy - or is it a real term - I had never heard of it before & my mom said she never looked it up when they told her about it & she always wondered what they were talking about - cause they (her grandparents) would see me smile in my sleep & say things all the time like " Awwww!! Thats so cute -she's got THE HIVEY " Anyone else heard of this????

I use Dr. Browns bottles and mylicon for my 6 week old daughter but she still gets gas and cries like she is in soo much pain. It breaks my heart. Are there better bottles or, something preventative that I can give her? Any suggestions?

He is very and I do mean very smart. Something concerns me greatly. When I was getting ready to give him shower he covered his privates, crying and said "Don't touch"....didn't want to take his shirt off and said "I wanna stay here"....any ideas from anyone on what this means and how my husband and I should handle this.

I used a nipple shield today (been using it for a month now under lactation consultant's advice).. but anyways today I ended up with this weird blister on my nipple! It hurts so bad! It doesn't help that I already have thrush... how can I make this blister go away quick?
