I used to wet the bed as a child until age 9. I went to the doctor and the diagnosis was my bladder was not mature. So the remedy was diapers, I wore cloth as an infant but back then pull ups were not available, but disposable diapers were. So when the decision was made, i was put in disposable diapers until age 9. We didnt make a big deal out of it, it was a solution a problem. Now days all I ever read is OMG dont put him back in diapers use pull ups or goodnites. People please. Pull ups and good nites are diapers. The just dont get put on with tape tabs. The absorb pee, just like a diaper, they are made with the same material, just like a diaper. THEY ARE DIAPERS. So what if a 4 or 5 year old is still in diapers, who cares. Society has made wearing diaper such a bad thing. Its plastic under wear. If I had to I would wear a diaper every day. Since people do make a big deal of diapers, i just might wear diaper just because i can and want to. Its a diaper not the plauge.

Yeah I know how that feels people where freaking out because my daughter got potty trained at 3 and not sooner.....she just didn't wanna go to the potty, my son that's 2 brings me a diaper, and tells me that he's stinky so in other words he does everything but go to the R.R. so I feel like who cares it doesn't really matter if diapers are being used or not. I rather see a child in a diaper then being imbarassed because they pissed themelves.

Pull-ups and Goodnites are about boosting a child's bruised ego, not about absorbency. A 5 year old doesn't WANT to wear diapers, because they're for babies. Make sthing just for a 5 yr old, and suddenly nightwetting isn't so traumatic. It's also easier for a kid to put on a pull-up diaper than a baby diaper while standing up. It's really hard for short arms to reach back for the tabs.

If you child has a bladder problem and they are 4 or 5 this eventually they will grow out of the problem, but you should put Pull ups because the child knows they should not be wearing diapers at that age. I would not do anything to hurt my child mentally. Its about the child not you.

I agree 100%.

I'm incontinent and have to wear diapers 24 / 7 because of a medical condition. If the people around me knew I'm sure I would never hear the end of it.

They always say that kids can be cruel, well I tell you what, adults can be much worse when it comes to making someone feel bad about something. I would never tell my co-workers just for the simple reason that some of them are mean and will try to find any little thing to use against you to belittle you.

Wear your diapers proudly, even if you don't have to. Enjoy them if you want, they are just another form of underwear. They hurt no one and are comforting to wear, especially if you have to like myself.

Good luck.

And pull-ups aren't as absorbant as "regular" diapers. People should just use what works best for the child.

I know you want people to agree with you, but i'm not gonna.

I personally don't like the idea of diapers as i wouldn't want my poo or pee strapped to me.

It is a health risk:
*Diaper rash
*Urinary tract infections (which causes ammonia in the blood stream, the cause of UTI related confusion - very noticable in old people).
*Yeast infections
*Possible link with increased male infertility ("German study links use of plastic diapers to male infertility. The mean scrotal temperature is significantly higher in all age groups during the periods of plastic diaper use. Plastic diapers seriously undermine the body's natural ability to keep the scrotum and testicles cool. The researchers call for further research on the impact of increased testicular temperature in infancy on later sperm production.")

Not to mention the environmental impact with landfill and bacteria in human waste seeping into groundwater - did you know you are supposed to wash off poo before you dispose of the diapers? Check the disposable's packet)

I attend in a timely manner to my baby's other needs such as feeding and comforting, so why shouldn't parents be encouraged to do the same with their baby's toiletting needs?

Babies don't *need* to be in diapers. Many cultures start toilet traing their babies from birth. We started with our baby when she was 3mo as she got bad rash and i didn't want her at risk of a urinary tract infection. Now i have learnt her signals for toiletting (just the same way i learnt her hungry and tired signals). It's called Infant Pooty Training, Elimination Communication (EC) or Natural Infant Hygiene.

At 6mo, my baby is diaperless in the daytime but wears them overnight as i don't wake quickly enough to get her to the potty on time. We have an average of about 2 "accidents" per day, with the rest going into the potty. I also stopped getting peeing on as soon as the diaper came off with the pooty training.
