Could you liberals put your hatred aside and work with conservatives to finish the job?

To expand on my question,

theres easily 100 to 500 regular users who come here at the same time Monday through Friday,

if we did a poll and got all the regulars to "vote", would it be a good sample and by good I mean would it parallel what we would see in the America if we randomly picked 500 individuals.

In other words, how random are we?

The Democratic party in the US is NOT liberal. The Democratic party is conservative and the GOP is extremely conservative. Left of right on the sociopolitical spectrum does not equate to liberalism. There is the Green party and the Socialist party that are liberal. But, the two-party system in the US won't give other parties a chance.

part of bush's recent Martial Law Enabling Act. Whether it too will ever be enforced we will never know until the day martial law is imposed upon America.

How many supporters of bush and the neocon party will continue supporting him if bush ever felt his political power to be so threatened by the American citizenry that he decides to enforce these gun-restriction provisions on the American people?

I'm asking this similar question to a previous one of mine because I was perturbed by some of the answers. I want to clear up a few things. Saddam had killed many of his own people, we get that, but does that justify our going in and killing 655,000 more, not to mention the many that have died from starvation from our sanctions? I understand that many people have kids over there, but the people we're killing are someone else's children, do they not have the same worth as human beings as an American?
I don't want to hear anyone question the numbers, because any amount of deaths is worth talking about. You can say they were caused by the insurgency, but that is at least partially our own fault, it only started when we decided to invade. I want to hear what people have to say about the lives over there. We hear a lot about the American dead and wounded, and they're important, certainly, but what about the Iraqi dead and wounded? Are they all just radicals aiming to destroy us?

The typical American defined as "poor" by the government has a car, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a stove, a clothes washer and dryer, and a microwave. He has two color televisions, cable or satellite TV reception, a VCR or DVD player, and a stereo. He is able to obtain medical care. His home is in good repair and is not overcrowded. By his own report, his family is not hungry and he had sufficient funds in the past year to meet his family's essential needs. While this individual's life is not opulent, it is equally far from the popular images of dire poverty conveyed by the press, liberal activists, and politicians.

The following are facts about persons defined as "poor" by the Census Bureau, taken from various government reports:

Forty-three percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.

Eighty percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, in 1970, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.

Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded. More than two-thirds have more than two rooms per person.

The average poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, and other cities throughout Europe. (These comparisons are to the average citizens in foreign countries, not to those classified as poor.)

Nearly three-quarters of poor households own a car; 31 percent own two or more cars.

Ninety-seven percent of poor households have a color television; over half own two or more color televisions.

Seventy-eight percent have a VCR or DVD player; 62 percent have cable or satellite TV reception.

Eighty-nine percent own microwave ovens, more than half have a stereo, and more than a third have an automatic dishwasher.

As a group, America's poor are far from being chronically undernourished. The average consumption of protein, vitamins, and minerals is virtually the same for poor and middle-class children and, in most cases, is well above recommended norms.

Tom Lantros called the 5-Star General Petraues a
liar today. Why do Democrats play so dirty anymore?
Have they no protocol, finesse, manners, or etiquette
that used to be prevalent among politicians? Democrats
and Chris Matthews made statements ahead of time that
Petraeus' speech would be polished by the White House
speechwriters, and called them cherry-picking the facts.
This was BEFORE the speech was even given. I'm
embarrased by how rude people have now become. Is
this the America we want to preserve? Are any citizens
out there outraged by all this?

Petraeus / Betrayus-- we've all seen that by now . But what I've yet to see is 'democratic' senators and congressmen speaking out against such abhorrence . Although I will surely give some respect to any democrat who does . George Soros , Moveon.org , and all those who benefit from these people and their actions are deplorable . Sometimes we all get shocked by a news story and in this case a full-page ad . But I believe THIS ONE is the final straw . And that's not a good thing nor a hope . It's an honest recognition that everyone needs to use their right to free speech and tell the NY Times and Moveon.org , and George Soros --- NO MORE .

NO MORE will we the people sit idly by while a foreign billionairre or anyone for that matter , besmirches the reputation of an honorable man / General Petraeus .

The train has to stop somewhere . I say it better stop here or we're in for far more trouble than any of us have bargained for.

OR THIS WILL BE THE FINAL STRAW

Agree or Disagree ?

Do you believe this statement is true?
"In a liberals mind, minorities are a group of people that can not make it on their own, a people that needs the assistant of liberals, through government, to come out of poverty. A group of people that should be graded on a whole different scale. Whether its affirmative action(handicap points?) or in behavioral problems, minorities are held to a lower standard."

Earlier this year, Bush promised that if Iraq told us we should leave, then we would get out of there. Today, Paul Harvey reported that three major studies were conducted independently of each other, to size up the attitudes and feelings of the Iraqi people. All three studies found that at this point, 47% of Iraqis want us to leave -- NOW!!

If that number gets to be over 50%, Bush can either do the honorable thing (don't hold your breath!) and get all of our troops OUT of there, on the spot. Or he can break his promise, and thus, once **again**, prove to everyone that his word isn't worth a fried rat turd. Which one do YOU think he'll do, if the Iraqis tell us to leave?

so that you can claim there's a reduction of it in Iraq? Is the report that Petraeus will give to Congress misleading to the point of criminality?

How they've changed the definition of violence in the surge report:

- The Los Angeles Times reports that people killed in car bombings don't count.
- The Washington Post reports that victims shot in the face don't count.
- The Center for Strategic and International Studies reports that Shi'a vs. Shi'a and Sunni vs. Sunni violence doesn't count.

Hi. I'm British, but I just want to know how the US Government works i.e. what is their Commons, Lords, how they're elected in, 'soveriegn figure', how laws are passed....

Please dont give me too much jargon - just in a nutshell as I do know a bit about politics (certainly UK politics), but words like "senate"... don't really mean too much to me!

Thanks
