I would hope that people would not be required to make judgments about other people with this limited information.

Stand on your own two feet. Believe what you believe. When you seek the approval of others, you put yourself on very unstable footing, which can tend towards a fall...

Know who your friends are, because you might need them.

It just shows that you don't "toe the party-line" like a robot.

The majority of your political beliefs may be along the conservative end of the spectrum, but it sounds like you have the tendency to make-up your own mind about the issues. That makes you an Independent in my mind. You and I are in the same boat.

I also consider myself to be a conservative, though I hold a small number of classically liberal ideals to be true to me.

Like you, I am pro-choice, but with strict controls on its use. I do NOT think it should be used as a legal form of birth control. Rather it should be used only if medically necessary to save the mother's life, no matter what term the pregnancy is in.

But, gay marriage should not be legal IMO. However, I do support expanding some of those same rights of marriage to common-law partners, including gay/lesbian couples.

Nevertheless, to answer your question: I don't particularly think it is odd. What I think is odd is when someone willingly "toes the Party-line" without question. It's like they loose the ability to think for themselves.

This is not meant as an insult. Hillary now claims herself to be a moderate. Your professing to be a conservative then is by no means odd.

About as odd as I am a Dem that does not believe in withdrawing from Iraq. To each his own. You don't have to agree with all aspects of a party in order to belong to it.

No, not odd at all, I think you can be a republican and not believe in everything little thing that some of them believe in.
I am a republican because you have to be one of the two parties in order to vote but it does'nt mean I go along with everthing they say.

I wouldn't say it's odd. unusual maybe. I find very few people who are in complete agreement with either the liberal or conservative viewpoint, except here on YA.

No. I don't believe that every single conservative agrees with each item on the checklist of conservatism, any more than each liberal can check off each item on the checklist of liberalism.

Ok, Rudy, cut it out! Lol, no, I am conservative and agree with you on those points. Only , they should be civil unions.

Not at all. I'm a conservative who believes that much of that stuff should be taken out of the hands of our federal government and turned over to the individual states.

No, you are not odd. You are human and those are your views. I disagree with you in both instances but that's how America works.
