To expand on my question,

theres easily 100 to 500 regular users who come here at the same time Monday through Friday,

if we did a poll and got all the regulars to "vote", would it be a good sample and by good I mean would it parallel what we would see in the America if we randomly picked 500 individuals.

In other words, how random are we?

I believe that many of us are unique in that those who take the time to hang out here in Politics are those who take more of an interest, read more, try to stay up to date and I have little doubt that with few exceptions, we are all voters.

Also, there are quite a few people here who either lean too far to one side or the other. That is not representative of the average U.S. voter. I tend to believe that the average would be more on the moderate side.

Yes. I am certain that regular users are much more than 500 and yes, a vote poll could give a random view.

I would hope but there are many different nations involved too to consider.

It seems like most YA ticket if voting would be Ron Paul/Thompson vs Hillary/Obama ticket.

Most people on the internet are more informed about politics and the real ticket would probably be.

Rudy/Mitt vs Hillary/Obama if popularity choose the VP.

No, not by any means. You mostly find extreme opinions on here, people who thrive on conflict. The majority of Americans would rather have a root canal then have to discuss politics for more than 20 seconds.

I don't think it is that random. For example, when I worked a high school teacher I would never have been online as there was no time to sit down between 7am to 5pm. Also there are plenty of other jobs from doctors to factory workers and everything in between that wouldn't have access.

It's representative of people who have access to a computer and downtime during work.

First of all, I see a more drastic polarization of political ideologies here than we would find in a representative sample of U.S. citizens. We come here voluntarily because we enjoy getting riled up by political issues. There are a lot of undecided, uneducated, or even simply apathetic people in this country that you would never see in an online Politics forum.

no it is not. This represents the portion of americans that have interest in politics and the time to post on this forum. As well as knowledge it exists and patience with the system.

We are not at all random. We are here because we want to be here. The general population are off doing what they do and couldn't care less what we do or say here. Compairing YA to a crossection of America would be unscientific at best.

It would be representative of those of us who like to be plugged into politics. Whether our views are representative of the nation as a whole is up for debate.

No its probably more extreme than average. People will say a lot of things from behind a computer that they would never say in public.
