Do you ask the hard questions to uncover what motivates your party's position on foreign and domestic policy?

If the Government doesn't look out for you lets dismantle the military, the CIA, The FBI and Homeland Security.

As large and expensive as the U.S. government is, I hope you're getting something out of it. Or is it charity to keep those bloated buracracies affloat? I guess all those agency people would be on welfare if we didn't support them.

Our government is obliged to provide certain protections, which are enumerated in the Bill Of Rights. I think they've done a fair job.

I'm an Independent, I refuse to be any party's biitch. They all lie and operate to suit their own agendas. I vote for the best of the worst. I know some how they're going to try to f**k me and not in a good way.

I expect the government via our military to engage and defeat our enemies abroad while ensuring economic and personal Freedom at home.

The successful implementation of either may well depend on who is in power. With this Democrat Congress, for example, my expectations have been lowered a great deal

Other than that, the government needs to stay out of our lives as much as possible

My goodness, you can sure tell one's political views even if unstated, by those who've already responded.
Government is ineffectual and "Inefficient" if you expect it to do everything for you (including wiping your butt). It is almost ideal if you look only for things such as upholding the Constitution, providing a military and providing for safe commerce.
I survived hurricane Ivan -- lost a barn, a lot of livestock and most everything in it. You never heard me whine about FEMA of Pres. Bush. Nor did you see me or any of my neighbors stealing. We helped one another. I was without power and water for over three weeks -- try maintaining a farm under THOSE conditions! I don't have to ask, I already know what motivates them.

Government isnt suposed to look out for me. I am suposed to look out for me. The government is there to uphold the constitution, maintain a military, and maintain roads so commerce can take place.

If the govt upholds the Constitution, USA would not get involved in world affairs.

The only questions you must ask your politicians are very hard, and crucial. Is, "are your proposals constitutional?", and "do your proposals lead to more freedoms" and "do your proposals lead to smaller government"

But ultimately that first question will pave the road to those second and third question.

If you want to read, having access to 400+ short articles written by Dr. Ron Paul (Running for president) you will get a view of what the ONLY VIABLE cadidate in 08' is representing.

I agree with the first two posters. My family and I look out for ourselves. We do ask the hard questions to hold them accountable - they work for us. And I don't blindly follow either political party. I vote for the PERSON with the best ideas and experience, not the party.

No
Nor would I expect it too.
Protect the boarders. Encourage domestic peace and freedom. Keep your hands out of my pockets.

I am a neither due to libertarians being inept.
Government does nothing well and looks after no-one. It enslaves everyone but the few elites.
Ask Hillary.
