He said while the equipment L/Cpl Flowers was given offered only limited protection, it was the best available.

L/Cpl Flowers and his colleagues had been working on a Warrior vehicle at Basra Palace compound at the time of his death.

He was killed when a shell landed a few metres from him as he went to fetch a generator.

He was found face-down wearing a half-undone standard combat body armour vest.

Will there ever be a light enough armour to protect a soldier from everything thrown at him? what do you think ?

Why don't they wear Irish? having taken part in quite a few St Patrick's day parades, I have been surprised at how much "Irish" American bands look like Scots and at times even like Scottish soldiers from the British Army, and yet they (not all) claim to dislike the British. Take for instance the headdress for the Irish it is the Caubeen, why do "Irish" Americans then wear a balmoral or a glengarry? And correct foot wear, "ghillie brogues" are Scottish not Irish, if your irish wear regular brogues with double shodded soles. The balmoral is worn with ribbons tied; the glengarry with the ribbons left untied. The balmoral is worn level on forehead 1/2" above the eyebrows, with the cloth top pulled over right side of the head. The cockade should be centered over the left temple. The bow should be centered at the back of the head. The glengarry is traditionally worn canted to the right; 1" above the left eyebrow and 1/2" above the right eyebrow, with point of the glen centered on the

Terrorists and criminal detainees deserve only the finest, chocolates on pillows, room service, world-class dining service, spa services and the like.

Anything less would be a violation of human rights. Abdul deserves his duck with mango chutney!

One of the reasons I'm thinking about not joining the Navy is the great possibility I'll be stuck on a ship and I'll go nuts from boredom. I'm wondering if it's allowed to bring a laptop on a ship to stay busy when your not doing your job?

I'm 21, and I have tried my hand at college... it isn't that it isn't for me, it's just being in my home town I am easily distracted... Everytime I start over i fall into the same crap. Now I moved back home a year ago thinking it would help, but it actually had the opposite effect. I was going to join the Air Force but my parents flipped out, my mom talked about war, and my dad talked about all the money and loans they took out for me to go to school. Now a year later I'm in the same spot I was in last year, still thinking the Air Force might be the best but most difficult decision. My parents just recently moved in my niece and nephew to assume financial responsibility for them, So i feel it is time for me to be able to take full financial responsibility for myself. I have been looking for a job, but it is hard to find one without a degree that would allow me time for school, and cover all expenses. I do want my degree.. any suggestions? besides get off your butt and stuff like that.

I was thinking, prisoners that are in prison for life, why don't they give them the option of serving in the army or serving life in jail? I mean, we all know that the prisons are getting way too crowded and our money(tax) is going to them for food and other things. Is it that they are not capable of being taught? It's a solution, I guess...? Me personally I think that some of them will choose to go to the army & follow through with it.

My fiance is at Ft. Leonard Wood right now. He graduated AIT today. He was suppose to come home next Tuesday on a flight, and then last night they told all of them that they could not out process until Wednesday. He was mad about that but not really mad. Today after graduation they were giving them hell because a lot of guys were caught with dip. Now they are saying that they are not allowed to go anywhere, including the PX or anywhere else on base, and he needs something for his uniform from the PX and he has no way to go and get it. Can they hold him over and not let him come home like he is suppose to because of this? Or are they just messing with them because it is almost over for them and they are almost out of Ft. Hell? I need answers quick please. He is freaking out and I don't want him to go AWOL, which I don't think he would but I need to reassure him with some answers. Thank You All Who Answer!

I plan to use this term in a business context. In this particular situation we're going to initially raise our hiring standards to meet our needs then back off later to our regular hiring standards. I had thought of the term "preemptive strike," but that may have too negative a connotation. Can you help with a good term?
