IF they decided to attack a navy fleet with MiG-29's they would be shot down LONG before they got near the fleet, now for a long range missile attack, the retaliation would be BAD.
As for flying over Israel, they have a pretty advanced Air defence network, so once again the 29's would be blown out of the sky.
Where ground forces are concerned, Syria has a fairly good ground force, but then again Iraq had a massive ground force before desert storm... and we see what happened there.

The minute anything takes off in Syria its monitored by the Israelis, the second it attempted to violate Israeli airspace it would be pounced on by the elite Israeli Airforce.
By the way Syrian fighters do not carry unlimited fuel for such a journey as you are thinking about.
Do you think there would be no reaction by the 7th fleet to an approaching unidentified aircraft??
Time to wake up kid and take a dose of reality!!!

Believe me A syrian mig-29 wont get within 300 miles of an aircraft carrier before he had two F18 hornets sitting on each of his wings, and if he made a fly pass over Israel thier surface to air capabilities would have him landing via a parachute.. 1981 the Libyans sent 2 Mig SU-22s towards the USS Nimitz and USS Forrestal when we were conducting live missle fires in International waters in the Gulf of Sidra in The Meditteranean Sea,, WE observe 15 miles out open water, The libyans claim they own it out to 50. Our E2 hawkeyes had evey single plane they launched in those 2 days and we easily escorted them out of our area. Then the libyans tried to fire 2 ATOLL heat seeking missles at our F14 tomcats from VF-41.. The next day it was the headlines USA 2 - Libya 0..... sonic booming the 7th fleet would be considered an engagment and I can guarantee they "would not be flying back home" Heres some good reading about messing with our fleets in the Navy On the morning of the 19th, two VF-41 Black Aces F-14As, Fast Eagle 102 (CDR "Hank" Kleeman/LT "DJ" Venlet)
and Fast Eagle 107 (LT "Music" Muczynski/LTJG "Amos" Anderson), were flying combat air patrol to cover aircraft
engaged in a missile exercise. An E-2A Hawkeye gained radar contact with two Sukhoi Su-22 'Fighters' which had
left Okba Ben Nafi Air Base near Tripoli. The Fighters were heading towards the Tomcats and the lead Fighter fired
an AA-2 Atoll short range heat seeking missile at the Tomcats. The Tomcats evaded and were cleared to return fire
by their orders, which mandated self defense on the initiation of hostile action.
Muczynski engaged the lead Fighter and shot it down with an AIM-9 Sidewinder missile. Kleeman engaged the wingman
and shot it down with another Sidewinder. The official United States Navy report states that both Libyan pilots ejected
and were safely recovered. The international tensions and dogfighting incidents seen in the movies Top Gun and Iron Eagle
were drawn in part from this incident. According to a transcript from the USS Biddle, the Fighters were shot down before
the controller was even sure that the F-14s had been fired upon. They did not receive clearance, but they were forced to
defend themselves after being fired upon. Less than an hour later, while the Libyans were conducting a Search and Rescue
operation of their downed pilots, two fully armed MiG-25s entered the airspace over the Gulf and headed toward the US
Carriers at Mach 1.5 and conducted a mock attack in the direction of USS Nimitz. Two VF-41 Tomcats and one VF-84 Tomcat
headed towards the Libyans which then turned around. The Tomcats turned home but had to turn around again when the Libyans
headed toward the US Carriers once more, after being tracked by the F-14s radars once again the MiGs finally headed
home. One more Libyan formation would venture out into the Gulf toward the US forces later that day. But they were all intercepted and escorted home

Syria will not officially join Hezbollah or other Palestinian groups, because they know that would bring in the USA, as the USA have a pact of alliance with Israel! But besides that, as things stand there in Middle East there is no hope for peace there in the near future!

They may get shot down, or maybe they will gage what their doing to see whats going on. But if they fly over Israel, Israel will most likely go to war cause Israels like that little dude in the bar that you just dont mess with.

Sheer guts? or Stupidity. International relations in the Middle East hang sometimes by a fine thread. The actions you suggest would be irresponsible and bordering on insanity as they could very well precipitate into war.

The United States has a policy in which, if we are attacked, we attack back with "unimaginable force." It would be considered an act of war, though we would likely give Syria a chance to surrender before bombing it to dust.

The Israelis recently smoked Assad's erector set--the one he built with the help of Lil' Kim and Mahmoud--so I doubt Kucinich's buddy would risk his rattle-trap of an Air Force.
But it is nice to know America has such devastating air power on station. (not to mention those Tomahawk firing platforms that prowl beneath the seas)

We shot down a few Libyan jets under similar circumstances. I suspect the Syrians would just say that their pilot went bonkers and apologize for making us waste our ammo on him.
