Don't you think they would have if they were able ? Air support needs clear skies to fly, and what artillery did they have left ? if surrounded, where would it come from, have you done any research prior to asking this question ?

at the time the German army was encapsulated within Stalingrad perimeter, it had no chance to receive artillery support, for the possible firing posts were too far from the theater of operations. the Russians dominated the skies, too, and because of that the Germans were not able to provide air support.

By that time German air support was almost non-existent as was ammunition for their artillery. The German troops were only supplied by a tenuous thread of an airlift that could in no way supply them with enough food, ammunition, weapons or reinforcements to hold off the soviets.

Everything froze, it was so cold that petro froze. There were also so many of those Rooskies that the German army could not last.Hitler screwed up by not listening to his generals. Hitler forgot his history and failed in overpassing something that Napoleon tried. If he attacked Stalingrad in the beginig of the spring everthing would be a little different.

Germany was a victim of too long supply lines.
They had actually planned on looting all the farm lands of crops etc, when the invasion had begun.
The Russians had burned their fields and structures, so the Germans had nothing to loot. With the oncoming winter, they were starving and freezing.
Germany was over extended on two fronts. They were ill advised that Russia would fall easily.

Germans got all air support they could provide.
But you got to remember - there was another German's army in trouble: Caucasian and Hitler required Stalingrad army to held the line in order to evacuate Caucasian army.

The Germans fell prey to the same strategy the Russians used on Napoleon and his troops: fall back, and wait them out.
The Germans blew their wad getting to Stalingrad only to find that the city was prepared to fight to the end.

They used artillery extensively. Air support at the time was limited and Hitler had commited most of his air assets to the fight with Britian and the US.

Too little too late,
No food supplies,
No Ammo supplies,
No reinforcements,
No air support,
out numbered 100+ -1
But mainly written off by their leader in Berlin.
So they reaped what they sowed.
