Every lesson taught to you in the military and believe me there will be many of them, are taught from a safety point of view so you will not be a liability to yourself and your comrades.
As the military tend to work with weapons designed to take life you will be instructed on the do's and don't do's by competent military instructors.
But in life remember this:
"Accidents don't just happen, they are caused by the consequences of somebody NOT thinking about what they are doing!!!"

OK now just think you are pilot in Jet or any international airways where you are earning in lacs and also getting good perkes. One day you take off you flight and get to know that the plane is hi jacked and the hijackers are going to do somewhat like they did in America with the world trade center. Then what will you do you will curse the line you have chosen or your destiny,
My dear It is very hard to predict ones destiny. What is written for you will happen to you if you have a long life you will live long come may what it will not touch you and if you have a small life what ever you do you will not come out of it .
Just belive in yourself. And people in or planning to join Arm forces are the bravest persons I have ever seen. They under go so many good and bad things of live but they keep moving a head.
All The Best.

after 20 yrs, b4 every mission, training or not, u always do a detailed brief and try to cover the what ifs, of course there is no way to cover everything. Even in civ life u have risks u just don't think about them like the military does.

Good luck in your new venture,You ask about risks, soldiers are, or should be aware of risks,at all time certainly if, they are on duty.As you are an intended recruit, the way you can minimise those risks is to, ,listen, and, learn from people who have most probably gone through action them selves.

Yes. I was on a training mission in Utah. An Army 2 1/2 vehicle, carrying six soldiers to the nearest town, rolled over in a single-vehicle accident.

My dad was in the army years ago. He didn't have any accidents there, but on a weekend break, he got drunk with some mates, fell down the stairs and broke his leg! All of life is dangerous. Just be sensible, and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Yes i was in the Army for thirteen years two tours of duty in Northern Ireland in the seventies and in the Falklands in 1982 the "risks" as you call it is always their depending on the situation you are in but you have been trained to do a job and you do it, in a fire fight [and i have been in a few] the thought of paying the "ultimate sacrifice" never enters your head

service men are aware of the risk. most don't understand it until some one dies, they also don't know all the risk's because they are lied to by the governments spin on risk factors.
good officers and NCO'S tell men: this is no game if you make the slightest mistake your DEAD!!, YES EVEN IN TRAINING
the risk is unexplainable until you have been shot at
