Looking for a name for yourself? Nicknames in the military usually come from other people. Sometimes they're plays off your name. Other times, it comes from something you've done, either in the military or before. You really can't just pick one. It kinda just... happens. At least that's been my experience.

hmmm my hubby was known as 'child molestor' in his last unit because he started dating me and i was 19 (got carded everywhere on base especially around his unit), but i look about 14 really really tiny and young so yeah tha was his. Also been called rosie because it sorta matches his last name and i took him a red rose with lunch for his bday one year. he'd been a dick and i wanted him to get a birthday beating. like everyone says, it's something ur tagged with that just happens. there are some nicknames that goes with rank but they are disrespectful and NEVER used. for instance a 1sgt is a 'top' and e5 or cpl is a 'buck sgt' ect. it's sorta just a part of military culture, hard to explain unless your in it first hand.
