That would be up to the company commander.
I know a man, he's an auto mechanic at a dealership. Saturday is a busy day for the dealer, and a day he is scheduled to work.
The reserves allows him to make that day up on the following Monday, a day he is off from work.
Everybody wins!.

I think you're referring to being an AGR. Technically you'd still be in the Reserve system, but work(and get paid) like an Active Duty member.
If you're curious about it, talk to your Recruiter about the AGR program. My husband just did 4 years---worked 5 days a week, sometimes weekends if required, and was required to attend Drill(since he was in the Reserve system). Was home every night, except when on TDY.

We call it split training. My unit allows it quite frequently if you have a decent reason. You just come in during a specified time, and help out the full-time soldiers around the armory.

You can make up drill times but when you do would be up to your chain of command.
