I was wondering because i just watched an episode of build it bigger on the discovery channel about the uss George bush, and when they were discribing it they said it was 500 tons of steel and 47,000 tons of aluminum. this kinda struck me as odd because i thought that it was mostly made of steel. and i would think that even if it was mostly aluminum, that the hull would be steel. and i think the hull would weigh more than 500 tons.

This is a serious question, im wondering what you all think will happen as far as the turmoil in the middle east and the rest of the world for that matter. When do you think well be pulling out of iraq? If so, what happens after we pullout. Are we going to attack Iran and North Korea? Will Israel, Syria, and Iran be at war? Will we invade Pakistan to go after al qaeda? Will North Korea launch missiles at South Korea and Japan? Where will Russia and China fare in all of this? Will we soon see a war fought on the scales of World War 1 and World War 2? Im interested in what everyones opinionson these issues are. What do you think will honestly happen i nthe near future?

I've asked a few questions on this topic, but I'm sounding like a broken record. I'm 21 finishing last yr of college and going military as an Enlisted man. I'm a very motivated person which comes from the inside and I also got the smarts. Physically I have been working out for the past 4 yrs just for this 6 X's a week. Army is out of the ?, USMC blew me away with what they were all about, so I have been leaning towards them. But the thing is I can't settle for anything but the best therefore I want to do Recon. But lately the Navy has all been calling and telling me they would offer a SEAL contract. What would you do? The NAVY tells me I should do theres because the training is that much better/longer. But the way I see it is whether or not Recon school is shorter, I am very much attracted to the USMC and the thought of if I somehow would fail BUD/s I couldn't see myself on a NAVY ship. I need a gun in hand and doing work on the ground. What would you do/recommend?

What percent of the military would fight with the American citizens against the government, if we got into another Civil War?
I think it would be about 90%. I think our soldiers know that Congress (democratically controlled) aren't listening to Americans at home, or to them. This questions relates to all issues, especially illegal alien trespassing, the war, and anything else you can think of, where Congress is doing what they want, rather than what we citizens want.
Remember that Congress is still continuing to try and pass an amnesty bill for illegal aliens (mostly Mexican) to enter our country, against 98% of Americans, Liberal, and Conservatives, who want illegals gone. What do you think? I would especially like to hear from the military, and their families. Thanks.

Sadly, I used to be a cutter. I have many noticable scars on my thighs and arm. I am no longer in that mode nor will I ever allow myself to. I don't take medication anymore, I am 100% better. Will the Air Force look down apoun this when I join or go to basic? Does it even arrise an issue?

I've been thinking about reclassing from 19K (tanker) to 45B when I re-enlist, because I want to be a gunsmith if/when I ETS. I was wondering if there are any 45B's out there, or somebody who knows a lot about this field, the kind of training they receive, what they do on a day-to-day basis, and how much, if any schooling is required after enlistment to transition into a civilian career in the gunsmithing field. thanks!

Why am I finding Navy rank made for the ARMY Combat Uniform on the internet? Are Sailors allowed to wear ACUs in certain situations? If so, how? and what?

When the Viet Cong used the forests and jjungle as a cover for their fighting to pin down American troops, they responded with a scorched earth policy that destroyed the forests.

Shouldn't this have deprived the Viet Cong and defeated them eventually, seen as though the only thing that made their guerilla tactics so effective was gone.

Then how were they able not just to survive another couple of years, but to eventually "defeat" in a sense, and drive out the US troops?

I was born in Korea.

I want to be a Fed in America,

Not because that I like american action movies.

Just want to leave this creepy country and be a real cop.


Agents in this country(we call them NIS agents-National Inteligence Service) are dumb. they really don't care about saving country.

Anyway, i want to study computer programming in university. I'm gonna keep studying English too. I'm joining army and gonna stay 2 and a half years in the army of korea.


So I will be able to speak 2 or 3 languages, I keep studying japanese too, be a professional programmer and have military experience.
But the site of fbi (www.fbi.gov) said I should be an american citizen. in this case, does "citizen" include denizen?
Can denizen of american can be a fed?

Ok, so I'm getting ready to re-enlist in the army. Well at first my fiance wanted to go to Hawaii, so I told my SGTs' and I was still flagged so of course I wouldn't be consider. Recently I meet the army standard and got unflagged, so now I have the choice so before asking me again, they just go ahead and tell me SGM to get me Hawaii. I understand it was bad of me to change my mind, but after all I'm about my family right now. I know the military doesn't give the station of choice, but at this moment it was. Am I wrong to change my mind from hawaii to ft hood. By the way my first sergeant was trying to "convince to choose Hawaii even after I told him my mind was set. I'm trying to do good by my family, why can't he understand that.

My fiance is in the army and is leaving for FTX. Once he gets back, he will have leave, where we will be getting married during that time. Is there any way to apply for housing before he leaves or during leave because we have a set date? I expect not, so if that's the case, do you have any advice to find housing soon?
Also, can we file paperwork at another army base, or does it have to be his specific base that we go to for military IDs, paperwork for benefits, etc...?
